*What we want from President Tinubu:*

By Adeyinka Grandson,
President of the YYF
April 2019

The below are the legitimate desire of the Young Conservatives Yoruba and by extension the good people of Yorubaland. These needs are legitimate, but only a full blooded Yoruba citizen as the President of Nigeria can do it for us. The Fulani or the Ibo as the President of Nigeria will never agree to these legitimate demands of the Yoruba nation.

In view of the above, we hope that Mr. Tinubu will be elected the President of Nigeria in 2023, which coincided with the 30 year anniversary of the annulment of Abiola's electoral victory by the minority Fulani and Ibo.

With Tinubu as the President of Nigeria, the Young Conservatives Yoruba will ask him to do the following for the Yoruba nation:

1. Kwara state has 16 local government areas in which 12 are Yoruba-speaking councils, including Asa, Ekiti, Ifelodun, Ilorin East, Ilorin South, Ilorin West, Irepodun, Isin, Moro, Offa, Oke Ero and Oyun.

We will request for President Tinubu to create the Oya state from the 12 Yoruba-speaking councils and add the state as part of the Western Region of Nigeria.

2. Kogi state has 21 local government areas in which 6 are Yoruba-speaking councils, including Ijumu, Kabba/Bunu, Lokoja, Mopa-Muro, Yagba East and Yagba West.

We will request for President Tinubu to create Okun state from the 6 Yoruba-speaking councils and add the state as part of the Western Region of Nigeria.

3. Delta state has 25 local government areas in which 3 are Yoruba-speaking Itsekiri councils, including the Warri South, Warri North and Warri South-West.

We will request for President Tinubu to create the Itsekiri state from the 3 councils and add the state as part of the Western Region of Nigeria.

4. Edo state has 18 local government areas in which 1 is Yoruba-speaking council, the Akoko-Edo local government area. We will request for President Tinubu to add the Akoko-Edo local government as part of the local government area of Ondo state.

5. We will request for President Tinubu to create the Western Region of Nigeria aka Yorubaland to include the following states: Oya, Okun, Itsekiri, Lagos, Ogun, Oyo, Ondo, Osun and Ekiti.

6. We will request for President Tinubu to change the name of Nigeria from the Federal Republic of Nigeria to the *The Union of Nigeria*, which shall consist of ethnic regions having their own flags, emblems, and constitutions as the federating units of Nigeria as opposed to the present 36 states structure of the country.

7. We will request for President Tinubu to return Nigeria back to the parliamentary system of government with a bi-cameral legislative body, which will comprise of a House of Representatives and a House of Nationalities. The regions each will also have their Houses of Assembly.

8. We will request for President Tinubu to reduce the power of the presidency of Nigeria to the following seven functions:

a. print money;
b. regulate trade between the regions in Nigeria and international trade;
c. make treaties and conduct foreign policy;
d. provide an army and navy in case of war and emergency, but not to control them;
e. establish the post offices;
f. control immigration;
g. make law necessary and proper to carry out its power.

9. We will request for President Tinubu to devolve the following powers to the regional governments:

a. issue licenses;
b. regulate trade within the region;
c. conduct elections;
d. establish state and local government area;
e. maintain law and order (the decentralization of the police, military and judiciary);
f. health and social care;
g. housing;
h. agriculture,
i. forestry and fisheries;
j. education and training;
k. land use planning;
l. sports and the arts;
m. transportation;
n. taxation;
o. ratify amendments to the federal constitution;
p. exert powers the federal constitution does not delegate to the federal government.

10. We will request for President Tinubu to ensure a new constitution that enshrined the right to self-determination on and up to the right to secede, presented to the people via voting in a referendum.

11. We will request for President Tinubu to ensure a just and equitable fiscal federalism whereby 90% of the revenue accruing from every region will be domiciled in the region and 10% contributed to the Federal Government by the federating regions for the responsibility of the Federal Government.

12. We will request for President Tinubu to create a constitutional arrangement for administering Abuja by a council composed of 55% of the indigenous people of Abuja and a Mayor, elected by the residents of the territory.

The above requests will guarantee the integrity of Nigeria's component nationalities.

But the half-Yoruba, the Fulani minority and Ißo want the unitary system to continue and the reason they have a deep seated hatred for Tinubu.
