Following threats of retaliation by Nigeria, the UK government has removed the country and 10 other African countries it placed on the COVID-19 Red List due to the outbreak of the Omnicron variant of the Coronavirus.

The UK Secretary of State for Health and Social Care, Sajid Javid, who made the announcement while addressing Members of Parliament on Tuesday, said the rapid spread of the variant, the Red List is “now less effective in slowing the incursion of Omicron from abroad.”

The 10 countries that were placed on the list included Angola, Botswana, Eswatini, Lesotho, Malawi, Mozambique, Namibia, South Africa, Zambia and Zimbabwe.

While making his address, Javid said:

“So, I can announce today that whilst we’ll maintain our temporary testing measures for international travel, we will be removing all 11 countries from the travel red list effective from 4:00 am tomorrow,” Javid added.

The UK had reintroduced the Red List in late November as a precautionary measure following the emergence of the new Omicron variant of the COVID-19.

The measure was meant to restrict people from the countries placed on the list from coming into the UK, which drew widespread condemnation around the world.

However, the removal of the countries from the Red List is also coming with a proviso that all UK arrivals from those countries must pay for and self-isolate in a pre-booked, government-approved hotel for 10 days.

No more room for nonsense, no more taking Nigeria for granted.

No more infringing on and sabotaging our Sovereignty and national interest.

I feel so proud and honored to be a Nigerian.

On point! I told you all, once Nigeria reciprocates and bans these countries too, they will grow sense and remove Nigeria off their ban list. Never be a push over for other nations. These countries think they can just treat us anyhow when we all know that if not for Africa's resources, their nations will not be where they are today. If that were not the case, why do Britain and France hold on so tightly to their former colonies?

Stupid white racists. The only language they understand is retaliation. This is one of the reasons why I will never support the Balkanization of Nigeria to irrelevant smaller units just to satisfy few political gladiators who can’t achieve National relevance in Nigeria.

A United and well governed Nigeria can lead Africa and emancipate the continent from racist western bullies.

Always remember no country have ever become great with weaklings and weak minded people as citizens. Do your research, you will discover that it is a bold, audacious and tenacious citizenry that lift their country up.

At the end the question everyone should answer is: are you a weak minded and unworthy citizen or are you a sturdy and dependable citizen?

Oh!,
The the 'white' created Nigeria and you are happy about it. You are real slave. Make I clap for you. Can u tell me why there are more nations per land mass in Europe than Africa?
Why is that most nations in Europe are monolingual or monoethnic.
There wouldn't have been be Nigeria if 1914 did not happen.

Nigeria applied pressure. The UK needs Nigeria 20x more than Nigeria needs the UK. If Nigerians stopped patronizing the US over half of their airlines will declare bankruptcy the next day.

We need to respond equally to any country that makes Nigerians suffer unnecessarily.
We also need to ban Turkish airlines for always sending their worst planes to Nigeria and Africa.
Enough is enough!

I remember one craz.y fake american caled eviana said Nigerians uses "giant of africa" as a fake slogan. This is an evidence. Lol.

Nigeria is the giant of Africa. Even South Africa is nothing one thing about General Buhari is that he has balls. If it was Jonathan, he would be using Ngozi to beg them. Lol.

. Imagine. They are the main carrier of omicron. Manchester United teams are almost all infected. Even Leisister too. grin They have almost 1,000 cases. Hahaha. Yet, they wanted to embarrass Nigeria.

You should be more worried about the security situation within your entire country, and the bad economy, including daily rising prices of everything, even food. The only people affected by international travel restrictions are the rich people, your corrupt politicians and their families. When was the last time you traveled to the UK.
