Saliu Mustapha For Apc Chairman: The Uncommon Candidate by Apcupdate: 4:33pm On Dec 18, 2021
We present to you a man of conscience and integrity who has been through struggles from the good old days of the defunct CPC through to the successful merger of parties that formed the APC. Saliu Mustapha is a lobbyist, Business mogul and a phylanthropist that has built is career in politics for over two decades, he is a result oriented personality and has come with an interest of uplifting the party with great ideas and philosophy of doing things differently to achieve the desired result.

He hails from the north central geopolitical zone, Kwara state precisely, from the ancient city of Ilorin and a descendant of the Ilorin emirate. He is a young charismatic leader who has spent his life serving the interest of the common masses, In recognition of his contribution to the development of his state he was conferred with the title of Turakin Ilorin, a title conferred on the most eminent son of the emirate.

The 50 years old prolific politician speaks English fluently, Hausa, Igbo, Okun and the Yoruba language, he started his primary and secondary education in Kaduna state through untill his graduation from tertiary institution. His belief in purposeful and progressive leadership brought him at different times on the same ideological paths with the likes of Chief Alexis Aniello, Chief Olu Falae, Alhaji Balarabe Musa, and President Muhammadu Buhari.

WHO IS SALIU MUSTAPHA, APC CHAIRMANSHIP CANDIDATE

Saliu Mustapha is a core progressive with remarkable experience in politics, this may inform why at a very youthful age, he became the National Publicity Secretary of the Progressive Liberation Party (PLP) under the leadership of Dr Ezekiel Izuogu. He also served as the National Publicity Secretary of the Progressive Action Congress (PAC), a defunct political party.

In 2011, Saliu became a foundation NEC member of the Buhari's newly formed Congress for Progressive Change (CPC), as an Ex-Oilicio, and subsequently as its National Deputy Chairman under the leadership of Prince Tony Momoh (of blessed memory).

He was among the very few that made the historic merger come to reality and reputed to be a signatory to the merger agreement from the part of the defunct CPC, since then till now, he has remained true to the progressive ideology as a stakeholder of the APC both at his home state and at the national level. He has contributed in no small measure to the sustenance of the party, He was at diffrent times a prominent member of the All Peoples Party (APP) and All Nigeria Peoples Party (ANPP). In 2018, he contested the APC gubernatorial election in his home state of Kwara but lost the opportunity.

Through his Foundation. he continues to touch the lives of young, aged, women and children, giving them a sense of belonging.

His mission statement is respecting the past but approaching the future differently and vision statement is to build a national political structure that is virile, enduring, dynamic and winning.

Below are his commitments and foresight as APC national chairman: The 10 point agendas

1. I WILL LEAD FROMTHE FRONT.

I will provide a leadership that is firm, disciplined, proactive, fair and transpzuent. This I believe is the minimum irreducible condition to winning elections, which is going to be the primary goal of my leadership of the party.

2. l WlLL ADOPT A DIFFERENT POLITICAL CULTURE

Is there any form of our national malaise today that is not a bye product of politics insecurity, corruption. Mal-administration, economic stagnation, ethnic agitations, etc? This presupposes that politics and the way it is played has a profound impact on a country's level of development. in other words politics can either make or mar a country.

This is why I believe that our politics require as much reforms as our policies and the first way to ensuring that is for us, the political class, to be guided by a new set of political culture and values that places politics in the right stead in the development trajectory of our country. For me. I chose Politics of Development. The POD is a new brand of political culture and ideology that believe that smart and good politicking is an antidote for rapid national development.

With politics, we can steel and strenghten our democracy; we can rebuild trust in our institutions: we can heal our wounds and address our vulnerabilities. With politics that is good and smart, we can rediscover our priorities as a nation and pursue them for the greater good.

3. I WILL WORK FOR AND PURSUE A LARGER LEADERSHIP ROLE FOR THE YOUTHS, WOMEN AND PLWD IN THE PARTY.

4. WE WILL RUN A STRATEGIC PARTY GOVERNANCE SYSTEM

We will be clearheaded in our approach. We will discourage a fire-brigade approach to party governance. All plans and programmes of the party would be well thought out, properly marshalled and strategically planned before they are implemented.

5. WE WILL ADOPT PREVENTIVE DIPLOMACY IN CRISIS MANAGEMENT.

We will manage political crisis by preventing them. We will prevent crisis by constantly looking out for conventional and nonconventional triggers of political crisis (early warning signals) across all strata of the party, and nip them in the bud promptly and firmly before they degenerate. But in the event that conflicts still rear their heads in spite of the above approaches, we will adopt a bottom-up dispute resolution mechanism that is independent, dependable, fair and inclusive.

6. WE WILL MANAGE INTEREST BETTER

It is interest that drives politics and politicking. We recognize the essentiality of both individual and group interest in politics. We equally recognize that a proper management of political interest of leaders, stakeholders and members of the party is fundamental to a successful party administration. We shall therefore ensure a delicate balancing in managing the varying competing but legitimate interest in the party through dialogue, consensus building, engagement, and communication.

7. WE WILL RUN A PARTY THAT IS FIT FOR THE DIGITAL AGE

Under my leadership. we will make conscious efforts to ensure that most of our party governance processes are ICT compliant and data driven.

8. WE WILL TAKE BRANDING SERIOUSLY

We recognise the importance of corporate branding
for a party as big as the APC. From my first day in office. We will vigorously create and pursue a positive, consistent and confident public image for the party and her government.

9. THE 'MONKEY‘ ANDTHE 'BABOONS WILL HAVE A CHANGE OF FORTUNES.

We will institute a broad base, qautum meirut reward system that‘s independent and fair. In order words, undermy leadership, you will get only what you give.

10. THE PARTY SECRETARIAT WILL BE REORGANIZED

To a professional, discipline and adequately remunerated workforce. even as we will purse ethical and independent funding options for the administration of the party.
