Please my laptop (windows 10) consumes too much data when I connect it to my phone's hotspot. In less than 30 minutes, it sometimes consumes around 300mb. And it's not like I do any download with it. Just me surfing the internet. Even when I'm not doing anything on the computer, it still manages to finish my data.

Can someone here who's an expert please show me a way I can stop the computer from using excessive data

I tried using Netlimiter and it worked well, but as soon the trial version ended the laptop returned to its old way of drinking all my data in minutes.

It won't, the only issue here is that for anything update you want to do on your laptop, you will have to go and enable it again hence it won't work.
