THE MAGI AND THE MUGUS.
Have you downloaded the new year "prophecies" churned out by your "daddies and mummies"? At least have you consulted them to know how your year will be? If you are one of those who have been latching on those new year abracadabra by some smart clerics, I resist the urge to call you "pious idiot", I won't because if I do you won't understand the difference between insult and description of attitude. However, take a look at the title of this write up.
Thanks to social media, the exuberant new year PROPHETS have been subdued and now resort to subtle predictions that have no head or tail.
Anyways, every year has always been same in the most fundamental issues: new births, deaths, fortunes, misfortunes, some win elections and others lose, some make more money and others less, some get jobs, some lose jobs, some countries grow their economies and better the lives of their citizens while the unfortunate ones are stuck with incompetent and corrupt leaders who do the opposite, breakthroughs in science and technology, new challenges thrown up by the advancements, the emergence of new sensations in entertainment and religion etc. These are the things that repeatedly happen every other year irrespective of what your super man or wan of God predicts.
In some way we can say with Ecclesiastes that nothing new under the sun. What I can say with certainty is that no "prophecy" of the usual super star clerics altered or contributed any significant change to the fundamentals of life.
They didn't prophecy new aircrafts that can reach New York from Abuja in 2 hours. They didn't even prohecy food in abundance for the hungry. Everyone, including them, rely on farmers for food. They didn't prophecy a common man into governorship or presidency, they didn't prophecy a graduate who works as gate man into CEO of bank or any corporate company. I don't want to list their many guess works that didn't happen. The only significant achievement of their prophecy is the endearment of their followers(mugus) and addition of new ones.
The Magi(wise men) can help us transit from mugus to magis. The Bible called them wise men for 2 primary reasons: they observed nature to make extrapolations, and most importantly, they SOUGHT the new king, the Lord of the universe.
The magis were not strictly scientists bc astrology is not regarded as science in the strict sense, but they followed nature, they OBSERVED and STUDIED nature to discover. That's exactly what scientists do: they observe and study nature to make discoveries and inventions. That's how automobiles, computers, electricity, technologies and all the things we depend on for life came to be. All the products we use everyday are products of 'scientific' thinking, not "prophetic predictions" for the year. Mugus do not know.
Notice that the Magi didn't look for Jesus to get any material thing, they already had what they had before Jesus was born. I'll not say more on this, make the deduction.
They came to worship, they didn't come to negotiate or do some transactions with God. They knew exactly what church or religion is about: WORSHIP. They said: "where is the new born king of the jews, we saw his star and have come to WORSHIP"
The year has begun, it will run its course. 2022 will run like the rest before it in the fundamentals. Only God knows the end from the beginning, only God can alter the course of the year as he wants, only God can decide to make the moon or sun disappear in an instant, only God can decide to credit a poor man's account with 2 billion naira, only God can decide to do what has never happened before. Since God has not done any of these for hundreds of thousands of years, it's safe to assume that He may not do them this year, He will run this year like He did others.
I can tell you for sure that God has not revealed any of these things to any human being either. So, this year will most likely run like others. Most importantly, your material prosperity will be a function of the socio- economic and political decisions of your leaders, not 'New year proohecies"
So, pray, work, get involved with politics and see church as a place of worship. Miracles will definitely happen, you can't buy them or determine them, so don't be a mugu spending your time and resources hunting for miracles.
I hope you do not fall mugu this year, I hope you become one of the magis. Happy New year
