All this because of a Supreme court ruling that stated that the State should not just seize and reallocate land without paying compensation to original owners

Stop being emotional. That guy is 10001% right. That's why Nigeria needs to amend her constitution. The police is a federal institution of the state that only takes instructions from the president. Governors have no right to order the police; they can only work together for greater good.

Well, the State should not have just seized the land without compensation in the first place, under the false idea that they were 'building a hospital' only to turn it into residential quarters.....

Supreme court rulings are not meant to be nice, they are meant to right wrongs. If it was you who had your land taken sans compensation, you won't be happy too, and you would support this ruling.

And yes, government doesn't obey all supreme court rulings (this one was even made in 2012 self long before Bubu took the throne)..but what was done to the original land owners was not right.

And no, I don't have a dog in this fight, and have been to Lagos twice in my life.

An appointed goon cannot claim any form of superiority over elected official. In terms of level and based on the tier of governments, Governor of a state and President of the country are executive leaders. If there is a conflict of the laws, federal government trumps the state. However, on the constitutional logjam, the courts shall resolve the issue. Even the President of country cannot dictate to Governor of a state. If the president of the country cannot dictate to the state governor, where did the so-called lawyer sniff the silly idea of IGP being superior to the governor? If Nigeria is running democratic government, there should have been state police and national guard.

The CSP is answerable to the IGP not the governor. He however gave the governor his due respect. The governor handled the matter well too. Is the IG aware of the invasion? Yes !
