A woman in Florida became morbidly obese and spent all of her days inside eating and lounging, despite efforts of family to change her lifestyle.

Eventually, because she’d become so large, her health started failing.

A family member called in to report she was having emphysema-related issues.

When teams arrived, the house was in disarray and hadn’t been cleaned in years. Trash caked the floor. It was clear the woman hadn’t gotten up to use the bathroom in a long time; she had just gone right there on herself.

The stench was so powerful they had to get fans to air the house out before they went in.

When they got to the woman, she was conscious and cognizant — but she could not get up. The team then had trouble removing her from the couch and putting her on a stretcher.

It turned out the woman hadn’t moved from the couch she was on in six years, and her skin had become grafted to the couch itself.

They had to take her, couch and all, to the hospital for emergency surgery, but unfortunately, she passed away during the surgery.
