In reality, you can only persuade people from other zones to support you but you can NOT ban them from contesting.


Ex- Gov of Kano State , the late Abubakar Rimi was running for the presidency in 1999 under the PDP but backed out of the Primaries when he realized the the majority of the party were in support of southern presidency.

In 2003, Rimi and Barnabas Gemade contested in the PDP primaries.

In 2007, Rochas Okorocha refused to listen to the Zoning directives of the party and he contested in the Primaries ,coming second.
