***************Why Is My Car Using So Much? **********************

There has been few questions and stress regarding the fuel consumption on rides on NL and off NL, now let us all take time to discuss . . .  Learn, disagree to agree while we find a way to change aall that.

Several factors can affect fuel usage. You can monitor some of these factors yourself but others may require a mechanic. Keep in mind that larger, heavier vehicles use more fuel than smaller, lighter ones. And remember that the manufacturer's and the Environmental Protection Agency's estimated miles-per-gallon is just an estimate.

Enjoy!!!

************Top 10 Tire Care Tips . . .**********************

1. Don¹t wait until it¹s too late - Make it a habit to check your tire pressure at least once per month and before every long trip. Under inflated tires causes excess heat build-up that can damage tires and lead to a failure.

*********Why cars break down?**************

Nothing lasts forever; any car eventually will start having problems. However, while some cars may provide you with few hundred thousands miles of trouble-free driving, others start having problems from the beginning. Why there is such a huge difference?

Sometimes cars start having problems after accidents. Sometimes it may be a factory defect or design flaw. Heavy conditions like, for example, driving only short trips without letting the engine to warm up fully also make the engine life shorter.

*******CAR CARE/SAFETY TIPS FOR WOMEN******

Female motorists need to know there's more to cars than just driving them. Something as basic as checking the oil can go a long way toward improving the safety and reliability of your vehicle, plus it helps avoid costly repairs down the road. In an effort to raise awareness among female drivers, FHEMMY MOTOR CUSTOMER CARE DEPT has put together this informational video.

TEN CAR CARE TIPS FOR WOMEN
1)     Check the oil, filters and fluids. Oil should be checked at every fill-up, and for maximum engine life, it should be changed per the owner's manual recommended intervals or every three months or 3,000 miles. Brake, transmission, power steering, coolant and windshield washer fluids should also be checked regularly. Your car's filters, including those for the transmission, fuel system and interior ventilation, need regular inspection and replacement.

2)      Inspect hoses at each oil change and have them replaced when leaking, brittle, cracked, rusted, swollen or restricted. Check V-belts and serpentine belts for looseness and condition, and have them replaced when cracked, frayed, glazed or showing signs of excessive wear. Typically replace the timing belt between 60,000 and 90,000 miles or the interval specified in the owner's manual to avoid a breakdown or serious engine damage.

3)     Check the brake system every year and have the brake linings, rotors and drums inspected at each oil change.

4)     Check that the battery connection is clean, tight and corrosion-free. The battery should be securely mounted. If it is three years old or more, the battery should be tested and replaced if necessary.

5)      Inspect the exhaust system for leaks, damage and broken supports or hangers if there is an unusual noise. Exhaust leaks can be dangerous and must be corrected without delay.

6)     Schedule a tune-up that will help the engine deliver the best balance of power and fuel economy and produce the lowest level of emissions.

7)      Check the car's heating, ventilating and air conditioning (HVAC) system as proper heating and cooling performance is critical for interior comfort and for safety reasons, such as defrosting.

cool       Inspect the steering and suspension system annually, including shock absorbers and struts, and chassis parts, such as ball joints, tie rod ends and other related components.

9)     Check the pressure of all tires, including the spare, at least once a month. Check the tread for uneven or irregular wear and cuts and bruises along the sidewalls. Have your car's alignment checked at least annually to reduce tire wear and improve fuel economy and handling.

10)   Test exterior and interior lights and have bulbs that are not working checked immediately. Replace windshield wiper blades every six months or when cracked, cut, torn, streaking or chattering for optimum wiping performance and safety.

SIMPLE CAR CARE TIPS FOR THERAINY SEASON!!!

The rainy season is here andmost of us are probably gritting our teeth, imagining the havoc it would wreckon our cars. Well, since we can’t pray the rain away (not that we want to)there are certain measures we can take to make sure, when it’s harvest time, our cars are in tiptop condition for the celebration.

Wash often

It's quite basic, this applies to EVERYTHING that gets dirty, doesn't it? Sowhy don’t people treat their expensive cars the same way.

The justification of "bah, it'll get dirty again" is rather silly andshort-sighted.

Cleaning the car often prevents contaminants, dirt, and residues frompermeating the paint causing damage that requires drastic restoration.

Also, if you clean the car, always use a good car shampoo. Washing the carwithout any form of lubricating surfactant will just scratch your paint sincethere's no buffer between the dirt you are scrubbing and the soft paint.

Get your car protected by a wax or sealant.

It really doesn't matter whether you use the most expensive stuff oroff-the-shelf cheapo stuff, as long as you have a protective, sacrificial layeron top of the paint.

Better brands and products will protect better and last longer while cheapstuff won't. But at the end of the day, even the worse of waxes can last atleast 2-5 days of torture.

In general, polymers and acrylics are much less affected by heat and moisture.

Protect Flat Surfaces More

Water pools on flat surfaces more than vertical surfaces, nothing new here. Thehood, roof, trunk (if available) will pool water blobs more than the doors, fenders and quarterpanels.

These flat surfaces also will absorb more direct heat when the sun is outtherefore contributing to rapid water evaporation, causing water to spot andacid etches to form.

So as much as you can, wax the flat panels more often than the vertical if allyou're after is surface protection.

The hood receives double heat source (engine and sun) so expect wax to wear offsooner on this surface.

Neutralize acidity immediately

If you have just arrived home and it just rained, you'd need to neutralize theacidity of rain water as soon as possible by hosing down the car if you don'tplan to wash the car.

NOTE: If you live in a place where water is especially hard and leaves a lotof residue, this is counter-productive, wash the car with shampoo and dry it.

Displace Moisture

As mentioned above, flat surfaces has the tendency to pool liquids and slowevaporation allows the acids and contaminants to slowly damage the paint.

Large water droplets also act as a magnifying glass when the sun hits itcausing the paint to burn quicker on that spot (hence the etch).

Reduce this phenomenon by simply leaving the hood and trunk open for severalminutes (assuming you have a somewhat covered parking or if it has stoppedraining) to allow water to drip off and the heat from the engine bay to escape. This also prevents sunlight from hitting the panels directly)

If you have a smooth paint, utilize the hose-drying technique, you'll end upwith less than a cup of water or so to dry off from the body panels.

Clean the wheels often

Brake dust + water + days of non-cleaning = corrosion of wheels.

Now that you know what to do, you can sayto the rain “BRING IT ON” but if you don’t want to be that challenging, you canjoin the Famous Majek Fashek in singing “Papa Papa Papa Yo Send Down the Rain”  grin

Brilliant tutorial, Fhemmmy. Just one more thing:

With the spark plugs removed, both the ignition and the fuelling need to be disabled. On a modern car, this can be achieved in one operation, by disconnecting the crankshaft position sensor. This will prevent the fuel pump and injectors from operating. It will also kill power to the primary side of the ignition coil / coilpacks. On older cars, you may have to disable both ignition and fuel separately. Fuel by removing the fuse or relay for the fuel pump, and the ignition coil primary connector.

If this isn't done, neat fuel will be pumped into the cylinders and catalyst, not desirable, as this can cause catalyst damage. It is also possible to get a spark from the secondary side of the coils, which when mixed with raw fuel, could spark a fire. Unburnt fuel could also cause a massive backfire, when the spark plugs are refitted, and the engine cranked over.

If you think you can or you think you can´t you are probably right!

We set our own limits, we make excuses, we hold ourselves back all because we think we can´t achieve something, nobody has ever achieved anything without believing in themselves and what they are doing. Think you can, know you can, believe you can, then of course, you can
