jesmond3945:This is a lie. You might need to learn how to use some software related to your job and that's it. As a pharmacist I should leave the tons of health materials I need to learn in order to keep updated in the ever changing drug information field and start learning programming? A lawyer should sleave law books and start reading python books? You're wrong. Just accept that you're wrong. 3 Likes |

Kellzzyy:I just tire for that guy...a doctor should start using "ctrl c" and "ctrl v" to do transplant Computer literacy is essential for everyone...at least to know how to login, simple data entry, etc not as extreme as learning programming Software Engineering is a profession of its own and should be treated as such 2 Likes |

BlaqFaze:Exactly. Software engineering is a profession of its own. You couldn't have said it any better. |

jesmond3945: Your ignorance na follow come i swear village people dey innocent for this case. So in the future as a lawyer, I wouldn't be hired based on my qualifications and cases i have won? Rather i would be hired based on softwares i have coded? So clients will need to see my GitHub profile and go through softwares that i have coded, or i must be a programmer before hiring me. Or in the future the new generation Messis and Ronaldo's will no longer be signed by any club not because they don't have good football skills but because they don't know how to code? Or better still in future artists like Timaya, Davido, Wizkid, and other upcoming artists will no longer have fans or make money from music because they don't know what a variable is in programming. Like in the future GT bank will hire me as a customer care agent not based on my qualifications, customer relationship skills, and computer literacy skill, but based on the fact that I know how to program in C++. If your wife is sick so before you allow any doctor to touch her that doctor must know how to code? People are working in Facebook, Microsoft, Amazon, and big tech companies earning fat checks without even knowing what a variable is in programming. Knowing how to use software and knowing how to code software are different things entirely. Google is free to use for christ's sake stop embarrassing yourself in public, please. Guy, you need to ask for a refund from your school. You fall my hand. 7 Likes |

jesmond3945: There's difference in being a computer literate and coding bros, out of curiosity how many years id experience do you have in the IT field Not everyone will become programmers, mind you all the noise about coding doesn't cut it because you can pay excellent coders to develop a solution for you, while you sell it and go on to become a billionaire... If you aren't passionate about it, you can't force it, by the way if there are no farmers won't Coders die?? If there are no nurses or doctors won't coders fall ill and eventually die?? If there are no architects, how will a coder build his house?? 1 Like |

octavian:when you hear coding, you think is only python c++ java. there are 1001 machines being designed and built now that we take over many things in the future. How do you interact with these machines without coding or even having some element of coding logic? Anyway I no blame us, we always be a third world continent. |

BlaqFaze:why are you angry? Would your anger stop what is coming, no. AI has limit. I don't think AI can programme a quantum computer at the moment. |

BlaqFaze: If everybody learns to code including farmers, tailors, doctors, engineers, market traders, teachers, bankers, tanker drivers, mechanics, parents, politicians, lawyers, etc... I wonder who will hire the other, who will require the service of the other because everybody can now do that especially in their respective fields. And so you know, most of the coding or aspect of programming we see commonly everywhere now, I means the basic ones are gradually being taken by Artificial intelligence (automation). So even some programing can be done by AI now even though it might be in the primitive state now but with remarkable progress we see now, I think it'll improve in the future and take away from some scope of programming... Forget all these garbage you hear, Only those who see the future will understand better. I think the aspect of programming that entails a higher computational ability, advance, critical, logical and analytical intelligence e.g application of advance mathematical theories and concept are where people get scared to venture into, and that's the future! (AI) but the fair and simple ones that almost everyone can do are now being done by AI. We all know the most popular aspect of programming we see everyday on nairaland programing section, I think that a very good example. |

jesmond3945: Have you heard Robotic Process Automation (RPA) before, they are simple workflows that help to improve worker's efficiency not eliminate the real work force.. You don't need a write a single line of code to design these processes, moreover they are simple shapes that you can put together as a layman to simplify your task... Yes with the many coders that are parading the street of Nigeria how come all our technological problems are yet to be resolved?? For one, by now we should have had boys writing software's that can block every yahoo yahoo boys attempt from hitting bank in Nigeria.. Stop saying what you don't know and moreover, with time Coding will become saturated , so what will people move to next? |

There are millions of libraries written inside those machines, AI robots can do virtually everything if you are following Winter Olympics there is a fully automated restaurant that has only robots serving customers food, ice cream inclusive.. |

The funny thing is that even in Tech, there are a vast array of professions. System Administration, DevOps, Technical Support, Implementation Engineering. I'm in Tech and I laugh at the sudden rush of young guns to become programmers. Look at other professions within IT. Recently started learning Ansible and Terraform and I'm amazed how much of it is neglected locally |

Re: Must Everybody Go Into Tech Or Learn Coding? by tolusneh: 2:03pm On Apr 06, 2022 |
No, obviously not, but then again tech is so wide that you don't actually need to know coding before you become a techie. There are different aspects to tech, like project and product managers, UI UX designer, HR and lots more. But if it's not a necessity for everyone to join tech, only people that are passionate. |
Re: Must Everybody Go Into Tech Or Learn Coding? by Fr4nk(m): 12:13am On Jun 01, 2022 |
arguing is always a pain, I think those of us that got into tech not because of the hype should just continue doing what we are good at, I decided to learn programming because I was very obsessed with computers at a very young age, I was computer literate at a very early stage, I learned to code purely out of interest, and now that I know that coding is what I'm good at I decided that I will spend the rest of my life honing my skills and building a career out of it, and looking for ways in which others can benefit from it. I have a thing for immediately running from anything that becomes the hype (especially in this country) because people tend to rush to the trendiest thing for wrong reasons. Tech will not replace anything, it could just enhance or improve the way other things are done 1 Like |

Fr4nk: Plays used to be watched at theatres, then the cinema, then the television, now with anything that has a screen (phone, laptop, etc), maybe soon with holograms, VR/AR Tech has made it more convenient to watch plays (or movies/shows as we call them today) over the years, but it never cancelled out the need for the Actors,Actresses and the production crew Tech has always existed as a means of solving human problems even from the time of the early cave men, its not a trend that everbody needs to hop on to |

BlaqFaze: Stop taking rubbish on topic u knew nothing about AI will never replace programmers Same way Wix and types of them made their own noise 3 to 5years u haven't set up a Linux server before because if you do you will know that AI can never replace programmers Setting and maintaining a Linux server pays me more money than building a website for a client Problem with Africans is that once dey hear person make money from something they will start to jump inside without doing a proper inquiries This year is my 8years as a programmer A full stack developer and also Blockchain developer My first 4years am very sure I didn't make up to 1million in total from programming I have other business I use to support myself but I had passion for it But now am making cool cash from programming , it comes with experience and steady learning , improving and etc Programming / coding is one of the most stressful job on earth nobody will tell u this If u can't read and understand , sit down for one place more than 10hours Avoid programming And if u are coming to make million under a month abeg shift to yahoo not programming Real programmers don't have time to enjoy the money they make coz we enjoy solving problem the money is kind of reward that motivates us |

2extremes: Not everybody must write code or be a tech guy but do you know that you can be a hot cake in your chosen field. Imagine an human resource officer learning more about ATS, excel, SQL and tableau with the intention of using it in his field as an HR analyst. Look for the software that's making work easier in your field and familiarize yourself then you will be hot cake in your field. |
