Indications that the bombers of the
Police Force headquarters in Abuja last
Thursday, may have bitten more than
they can chew, emerged Sunday, when
the Crack Investigating team, stormed
Maiduguri, the Boko Haram headquarters and arrested 58 sect
members including some Somali
nationals. Vanguard gathered that the 58 Boko
Haram members were moved to Abuja,
Sunday, aboard a military aircraft and
are currently being detained at the
headquarters of the Special Anti-
Robbery Squad, SARS, amid heavy security provided by both members of
the Mobile Police and the Anti-terrorist
Squad. The arrest of the 58 Boko Haram
members with Somali nationals found in
their midst, according to security
sources, confirms the belief by the
investigating team that Somali and
Sudanese nationals with sympathy to the Boko Haram cause, are working in
tandem with the Islamic sect to
perpetrate havoc in the country.

That means Boko Haram is not as invisible as Alqaeda? But I wonder if this approach would solve the problem. wont that increase the bombings? the solution still remains the education of these almajiri people in their true islamic beliefs since they say islam is a peace loving religion.

what are somali and sudanese nationals doing in our country? The govt. needs to work on the nigerian borders and many culprits need to be executed without trials if peace must reign, after deporting these aliens of war-torn countries.

You guys truly have no idea what is happening in Borno. Men, its a wild, wild west there. Boko Haram do not wear uniforms or have any identifying mark. Majority of the suspects arrested in this cases are usually innocent folks apprehended for one minor reason or the other. The police and soldiers deployed their are like rabid dogs. They kill and shoot on the slightest reasons or signs of "attitude". Now, this makes the populace to be sympathetic to the Boko Haram group. They hide and feed them. In return, the Boko Haram retaliate for them. Just count the no of police & soldiers that have been tracked and killed even while wearing mufti. Innocent people are just rounded up and paraded as suspects especially the low income earners (people with no connections). The Borders are also very porous as goods and people just flow into the state. All these Niger and Chad people are the ones making the matters worse. The police should improve upon their surveillance and investigation techniques and not hurriedly arresting 58 suspects who were not even in Abuja. Am not saying they are innocent but you can never trust nigerian police in such matters.

You are 100% right. That is the number problem this country have. We claim to be a BIG brother, while opening our borders or relaxing the security measures, whereas, any Nigerian trying to enter into any of these countries will have to pass through the eye of a needle security measures before gaining entry. If we tighten up security in our borders, this will be curtailed. We have Nigeriens, Chaldians, Lebanese, other Africans, Americans, Europeans,Asians  all living here like kings and queens without proper documents.

Once we get this right, then we will have to comedown heavily on any set or group in this country who tries to cause an uproar. Be it North, East or West. As long as we are still a United Nation, no region should ever try to take the government for granted.

Let the government state a STIFF penalty for any group that tries to cause any problem or chaos. Just like OBJ did to MASSOB and UDI in South East and Naija Delta regions.

I am even beginning to regret why i voted for GEJ. His comments during inauguration that 4yrs is not enough has shown that he has no plans for the country. This is why it took him 6days to speak during the post-election troubles. I am more than convinced now that he is very CLUELESS. What a waste.

How i wish we had a better/credible Presidential candidate.

Re: Police Arrest 58 Boko Haram Suspects In Maiduguri by DisGuy: 6:44am On Jun 20, 2011
Boko Harams or innocent Almajiris?

One of the reason these guys get more members is that innocent beggars on the streets are arrested and shot in the streets, the police are still insisting they shot their leader in a gun battle  shocked how can someone in handcuffs engage in a gun battle?

I got this excerpt somewhere!

Clause 23(1) of the Bill, allows the security agencies to enter, search and remove evidence from any property, without need for a search warrant, where applying to a judge would delay.
Also clause 24 of the Bill empowers the Director General of the State Security Service or other authorized officer to direct a communications provider, including telephone companies, to provide the communications data of any person over any given period. The Bill describes data to mean: information generated, sent, received or stored that can be retrieved by electronic magnetic, optical or any similar means”.
The Bill also allows the security services to detain any person on suspicion of terrorism for 48 hours without any access to any person, including lawyers, and may only allow access to a medical doctor provided by the security services.

Under the Bill, a person may be held without charge for up to 2 months – a clear violation of the fundamental rights provisions guaranteed under the 1999 Nigerian Constitution of Nigeria.
Any person found guilty will be sentenced to death by hanging!

THE BIG QUESTION IS: DOES JONATHAN GOVERNMENT HAVE THE GUT TO CARRY OUT ALL THESE!

Terrorist organisations usually have sleeping cells that would potentially get activate when its other cells are snuffed out, i dont think the ones they even arrested have a clue or an idea to what is going on, they are probably just pawns and not the serious members

That is the problem i have with the way policing is done in this country!done with a lack of plan, order, or direction, without any tactics at all, no intelligence gathering, nothing! They got the leader  few months ago and just executed the guy,m they could have gotten a lot of info from him but typical of the nigerian police, they just killed him together with a wealth of info that could have been so beneficial to their effort to stop this sect.
The failure of our security agencies to stop this scet when it was founded and they started recruiting people is what has brought us to this point now, Suicide bombing has now been added to the endless list of our problems and i just fear for our future, because truth be told the police cant protect us na only God fit do am,

Ha ha ha ha ha!
Let me laf small in Igbo!

Arrest them, try them, judge them, jail them, maim them or even kill them,

The "wish" of the "most merciful" Allah, which is to form a red ocean with the blood of the "infidels" must come to pass.

"sai Boko Haram"

Now, on a serious note: Nigerians must understand that you cannot negotiate with this violent form of Islam. Its more deadly than a nuclear weapon.
To them, its either Islam or Islam or Islam or Islam or ,
To fight them is to call for war: they will keep fighting, them, their children and their children.
To ignore them is to wait for the day of doom: they will relax and build a horrible force.

There is an international movement going on. They are networked all over the world. Its not only in Nigeria. It has nothing to do with Jonathan of Ringin.

My candid suggestion: lets com together and negotiate Nigeria. Let them have there own retarted and achaic Islamic country.

Normal routine - Catch the innocent ones and kill them! They are all guilty. That's y boko haram keep getting new members every day- cause if u kill someone who is innocent, his brother will join the opposition to revenge his brother's death. Hence, many of them are willing to be suicide bombers - its called honour death.

In abuja we know that once a suspect is detained in SAS detention, you are a dead man - No court need to get permit to execute the suspect.

We only hear of arrests but the aftermath is not made public!

As we speak, high-level negotiations are going on behind the scene, once the police are settled with their asking prices, they release them again!
