A former Managing Director of Alpha Beta Consulting, Dapo Apara, the All Progressives Congress leader, Bola Tinubu; and the current Managing Director of the company, Akin Doherty, have begun discussions on a possible out-of-court settlement following allegations that Tinubu ordered the transfer of over N20bn from Alpha Beta to some private business accounts.

The lawyer to the plaintiff, Mr Ebun-Olu Adegboruwa (SAN), said this before the High Court of Lagos State sitting at the Tafawa Balewa Square on Tuesday.

During the proceedings, Adegboruwa informed the court that the order made on November 2, 2021, for substituted service of all court processes on Tinubu had been complied with by the court bailiff.

Adegboruwa stated that the bailiff served Tinubu on November 24, 2021, at his No. 26 Bourdillon Road, Ikoyi, address through the courier service of DHL, adding that an affidavit of service had been filed by the bailiff to confirm this position.

The court looked through its records and confirmed the position as stated by the lawyer.

Adegboruwa also informed the court that the parties and their counsel had met on several occasions with a view to resolving all the issues in controversy amicably and to this end, proposed terms of settlement had been exchanged, which might have explained the absence of the defendants and their counsel in court.

The senior advocate then urged the court to grant more time for the parties to consolidate on their settlement talks.

Justice Aishat Opesanwo subsequently adjourned the case till March 24, 2022.

It will be recalled that Apara filed the suit early last year seeking to hold the defendants accountable for financial transactions in Alpha Beta.

In the suit filed by Adegboruwa on behalf of Apara, the former MD said Tinubu controls Alpha Beta, a tax consulting firm that has exclusive rights to monitor and generate revenue on behalf of the Lagos State Government.

Apara, who had in 2018 written a petition to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission accusing Alpha Beta of N100bn tax fraud, asked the court to compel the firm to pay him his entitlements even as he alleged that Tinubu was the one that got him removed from his position for investigating the firm’s finances.

Why settle out of court when you can prove your accuser and Nigerians wrong that you never ordered the transfer of over N20 billion to some your private business accounts??

So, by settling out of court it means that the accused is directly or indirectly guilty of the crime he was accused of?

Too many questions to ask, but, let me just stop here to avoid making some people's saint and saviour look like a common criminal. Before I go I wanna beg you reading this comment for a favour,

Dayo Apara, the erstwhile MD of Alpha Beta consulting has been right all along on the allegations of money laundering, fraud, tax evasion, and other corrupt practices by the company.

The out of court settlements is just a quest by Tinubu for the former MD to lower his voice as 2023 beckons

There goes all this man's noise.
Imagine if he has been groomed to testify against the defendant
based on his petition, he would have disappointed the prosecutors.

Mr.Tinubu’s alleged asset fraud is only an aspect of multiple counts to be instituted against him by the EFCC.Mr.Tinubu has long been considered as untouchable because of the role he played in bringing Buhari to power, but his influence has waned since 2015 when Buhari shut him out of his inner circles after being sworn in as president.

Officials could not immediately comment on what Mr. Buhari knew about Tinubu’s probe, but they expressed confidence that the president would be reluctant to stand in the way of a criminal investigation.

A spokesman for Mr.Tinubu did not return calls and messages seeking comments, but two associates strategising for the former governor told the Gazette he had already learnt of the probe and sent messages to President Muhammadu Buhari for mercy

“Asiwaju Tinubu contacted the president some weeks ago to protest that his hands are clean of any dubious practices....He told the president that if the EFCC must proceed with its probe, then it has to do so with compassion and fear of God.”

“But what Ashiwaju really wants is for the investigation to stop because we all know it was instigated by Abubakar Malami to harass and persecute the party leader and destabilise him before 2023...."

Tinubu has Political Structure Nationally but It will be very difficult for him to be Elected as the Nigerian President. So many Key personalities do not trust his Capacity.

Junk journalism. There's no way on earth Dapo Apara can win that case. He messed up big time and would have been facing EFCC.
It's in his interest to go for out of court settlement. He is the only one jumping around all the while yet same to announce to the world an out of court settlement.
If the out of court is eventually taken, trust me, someone must have begged for him.
