The south east will continue to play backstage in the political arena for a long because they don't have political foresight. When I hear some of their politicians resort to issuing treaths directly and indirectly, I just laugh because it is obvious that they don't understand how politics work.
It is high time they realize that power is not given but taken and that it takes capacity and bridge building to take power. Here is my take:
1. Which politician in the south east can square out in an election with a northern candidate and win? OBJ and Jonathan did it from the SW and SS respectively. Recently Kalu said he can only contest if the party's ticket ia zoned to the SE- this shows that himself is not convinced that he can win in a kinly contested primaries.
This is why I said igbo politicians must build capacity and bridges. As it currently stands, I don't think there's any igbo politician that has northern appeal like Amaechi. This means that if he is to contest against a candidate from the SE in an election, he will most likely floor the candidate.

Buhari was a regioner champion (northern) and couldn't win an election until he built bridges with people from the SW, SS and SE. This should be a lesson to SE politicians.

2. All the two democratically elected presidents from the north have been from the north west (Katsina to be precise). Should the NE, NC now also begin to threaten others? When it is the turn of a region (we only have two: North and South) to produce the presidency, it is left for members of the region to decide on a candidate)
_The SE should therefore concentrate on building capacity and bridges. For then and only then can they access the presidency.

Can you now see in today's Nigeria Political dispensation, you're inconsequential kiss
Penguin2:
Lol!

Even the Vice Presidential slot we might not see in 2023.

If APC’s candidate finally comes from Southwest, their Vic will be a northerner.

Now if Wike and boy boy governors finally have their way in PDP, PDP’s candidate might be a northerner while Wike would be the strongest contender as Vice.

He is not making all these investments in the party for the fun of it.

So, Igbo elders should save their threat because even the Vice Presidential slot might elude us.

As a matter of fact, igbos need to educate themselves on election issues,if care is not taking they will lose out come 2023.Let me start with PDP, if PDP mistakenly zone presidency to SE automatically they lose the election because northerners will not vote for their candidate. And in APC, SW will get the presidency's ticket while VP will be given to the north,SE can get Senate president if they vote for their sons/daughters representing them under the platform of APC.Apart from this nothing more
Igbos are politically irrelevant in Nigeria, they don’t carry weight because of their constant and continuous inconsistent alliance with the wrong party. The south east region do not have political future in Nigeria, no presidential quality among their politician... Compare this with the south south. GEJ or WIke are better candidates that can ruffles a lot of feathers.

Igbos as usual will resort to blackmail and arm twisting to get attention.

My unanswered question remains; why are Igbos' afraid of demanding 2023 ticket as a moral obligation from the PDP which they have served blindly, and in defense of which they have insulted all other tribes and made numerous enemies for themselves for the last 23 years?
There is no single tribe or any other party which Igbos have not insulted and called unprintable names in their loyalty and self destructive love for the PDP all in the hope that the party would on account of all that reward it with her 2023 ticket.
When in 2014 APC extended to them an olive branch that could have seen an Igbo man clinch the 2023 ticket of the party, they rejected it with very vehement insults like Amala Ewedu Islamic party of Arewanistan almajiris and so on at a time when the PDP they thought they were defending was not only a party that was founded by the same Fulanis they claimed to hate, but also wasn't making any commitment whatsoever to an Igbo presidency. Southern States that voted for APC got labelled as traitors by Igbos' even through there was no pan-Southern accord to vote for PDP.
PDP developed to a fully fledged religion in Igbo land so much that even their own better performing indegenous APGA had to battle against the forces of extinction within the SE on account of the strong wind of the non-performing PDP blowing all over the entire region. Even till today the average Igbo man hates APC without any recognizable cogent reason despite APC undertaking in their region projects which their beloved PDP only undertook on Corel draw and power point. So where exactly have they suddenly found this moral courage to start seeking the 2023 ticket of the same Arewanistan Amala Ewedu Islamic almajiri party to the near total ignoring of that of the PDP in which they have invested all their emotional capital in a manner of all eggs in a basket since 1999? If PDP is shy of zoning her 2023 ticket to the region that has so willingly slaved for it and stoically sacrificed blindly for it, then APC will be very naive to hand her own ticket to such a people. It only means PDP is either being plain dishonest and outrightly dubious or that there is something sinister the party has seen as regards the prospect of the SE having her
2023 ticket.

Ironically, the kind of politics we play in Nigeria and which has landed us in this mess today as you correctly infer was actually started by you Igbos'. Remember the ideologically deficient alliance that Zik forged with the ultra conservative NPC on the eve of independence? That was the beginning of the triumph of politics of desperation and selfish interest over politics of principles which would have by today put Nigeria in a place of envy among the committee of nations.

Reference:

Well the South-South got it despite the Niger-Delta challenges and the north (east to west) isn't peaceful either but it does not stop their push for power. So to say leaders of eastern extraction should first handle local difficulties of national origin before aspiring for the leadership of this country is a bit disingenuous.

The North has led this nation proportionately more than the South and through all its challenges producing some decent leaders and some very ugly ones. It never shies away from power at the scent of it.

Tell me a region in Nigeria that has allowed a couple of miscreants, in the guise of self determination, to shut down economic activities, thereby plunging women and children, in their thousands, into unwarranted hunger?

Please, do not compare this to the militancy in the South-south... the militants didn't go about maiming people, in the towns, for flouting their orders, including maiming artisans and burning commercial motorcycles.

The worse of it is the glaring capitulation by the governments of the region. You see government officials unbranding and masking their vehicles in fear....no clear action to fix the situation, and restore the people's freedom and livelihoods.

All over the North East....Yobe, Adamawa, Borno.... thousands of formerly displaced persons have returned...and many are still returning to their homes and farmers.

You see Gov. Zulum boosting the people's confidence, even in the face of the challenges.

Do you hear of Ebubeagu anymore? You can't allow IPOB to call the shot in your region, and expect people to entrust the presidency of the country in your hands. Did Sunday Igboho shut down the economy of the South-west? Tompolo and Asari never tried that in the South-south..

Mind you the South-south got the Presidency by providence...not preparation. And we all saw how it ended. Preparation is necessary even with providence. Both are important.

Take your time and study politicians from the North and South west....you will see a deliberate effort at building capacity and sustaining dominance in the national polity....you see the Tinubus, Osinbajos, Fasholas, Fayemis...with real national influence.

Where are the governors of the SE who governed at the same time as Tinubu? We still have so much to understand about leadership in the South-east and South-south....so much!

I like the way SE commanding the whole Nigeria.

1) You must zone presidency to the SE.
2) We will not take any VP position from SE.

I'm suggesting the last statement to be.
3) Every Nigerian must vote for us or else.... grin
