This Ooni should be reminded that he is not the State governor and as such doesn't have the powers to issue such order. Only Executive office(President, Governors, Elected LG Chairmen)holders have right or powers to lockdown a security threatened areas within their constitutional locality which they oversee in form of curfew. He should devise other means to tackle skull mining and organ harvesting activities in Ile-Ife within the purview of his position.

Everyone saying the OONI doesn't have the constitutional rights to impose curfew is right. However, you all don't know what is going on in Ife presently.

Hoodlums have been terrorizing neighbourhoods enmasse these past few days. I personally know households they have attacked and people they have killed.

The worst thing is they are doing this openly. They go about every night shouting, dragging their cutlasses across the ground and burning tires causing hysteria before finally deciding on homes to attack. They even leave letters announcing their intent to attack others.

Since those with the constitutional rights have refused to step in, it would be wrong if a leader like the OONI does not step in.

The Police having woefully failed to proactively deal with rampant Night robberies in Ile-Ife. Ile-Ife is filled each night with bonfires lit by Neighbourhood vigilante groups the police having failed in its constitutional role.

He can tell anyone that considers themself his subject to go to sleep and they will comply WILLINGLY. But he can't order a curfew and ENFORCE it against anyone who wishes to go out. At least, no law enables him to do that.
