JAMB 2022 UTME/DE Registration Details & Instructions (Part II)

5.0 PROCESS FOR 2022 UTME/DE REGISTRATION

A. CREATION OF PROFILE
i. Every candidate will require the use of a unique phone (mobile) number (SIM) for the process of registration. The unique phone number can be used by one candidate only (Note: This number (SIM) remains your unique identification for all your transactions with the board).

The candidate will send his/her National Identification Number (NIN) by text (SMS) to 55019 or 66019 from his/her personal GSM number e.g write the word “NIN” then space and add your 11 digit NIN Number and send to 55019 or 66019 in this format (NIN 00123456789).

There should be a space between the word “NIN” and your 11 digit NIN (Note that the number must not have been used by another person to register for UTME/DE in the past). Do not use postpaid or special bundle SIM cards, They don’t work unless specially loaded with credit.

A Profile Code of 10 characters is received by the candidate on the same telephone(SIM) number

The phone number used for the text message is automatically tied to the candidate’s 2022 application, Examination and Admission.

CANDIDATES SHOULD NOTE AND ALWAYS REMEMBER THE SIM NUMBER USED, IT IS OF UTMOST IMPORTANCE FOR SUBSEQUENT COMMUNICATION WITH THE BOARD

BY OBTAINING UTME/DE APPLICATION DOCUMENTS, A CANDIDATE HAS ACCEPTED TO RECEIVE TEXT MESSAGES FROM JAMB (55019 or 66019) EVEN WHEN THE “DO NOT DISTURB” IS ACTIVATED.
The candidate will present the profile code at the point of procurement of form (Banks, MMOs, MFBs, Switches, USSD Partners). An ePIN is then sent as a text message to the candidate’s Phone number

The candidate will present the ePIN and profile code at any JAMB accredited CBT Centre for registration

The application cannot be completed until the candidate’s biometric (all ten fingers) are captured and photographs taken physically (No submission of passport photograph).

The successful capture of biometrics and photograph will authorize a candidate to print his/her e-registration slip. The fingerprint shall be required for any further transaction with JAMB on the candidates’ profiles.

Only candidates whose biometrics verification is successful on examination day will be permitted to sit the UTME. No parent or proxy is allowed to make any transaction on the candidates’ profile.

Candidates with biometric challenges can only register at JAMB headquarters in Abuja. The arrangement will be made for this through JAMB state offices

B. RETRIEVAL IN CASE OF MISTAKE/LOSS OF PROFILE CODE
i. To retrieve a lost Profile Code, send [RESEND] to 55019 or 66019 as a text message from the same mobile number
iii. Candidate can reset lost or forgotten Profile Password on their registered cell phone by sending [password] space [email address] from the same mobile number as a text message to 55019 or 66019.

Candidates who are computer literate can register directly unaided at some designated JAMB offices and PCRs

C. TICKETING (FREE COMPLAINT) For ALL complaints on JAMB processes, a candidate should create a support ticket at (https://www.jamb.gov.ng) by selecting the quick link ad then ticket/Support with his/her email address with the board.

The candidate then provides his/her name, phone number and the nature of the complaint, selects a complaint area o a drop-down and then summarizes the nature of the complaint. He/She should also attach supporting documents (if available).

Complaints from 3rd parties are merely noted. Letter writing is not encouraged. Rather all complaints should be channelled through the ticketing system for prompt attention and documentation.

For complaints relating to NIN (e.g a candidate sends a message to 55019 or 66019 to create a profile but does not receive any response or receives wrong data, he/she can follow the same process on the ticketing and click on 2022 NIN related issues then select the related topic on the drop-down).

NOTE THAT CANDIDATES’ PASSWORDS SHOULD NOT BE RELEASED TO ANYONE. JAMB CAN ONLY HELP ON PROFILE-PASSWORD, NOT E-MAIL-BOX-PASSWORD. CANDIDATES CAN ALSO CHECK THEIR ADMISSION STATUS ON JAMB PORTAL, ON CAPS MOBILE APP ON THEIR PHONE. CANDIDATES SHOULD NOT CHECK AT ANY CYBER CAFÉ THAT WOULD DEMAND FOR THEIR PASSWORD WHICH IS THEN USED TO STEAL THEIR RECORDS. “TO BE FOREWARNED IS TO BE FOREARMED”

Candidates and the public are to note that nobody can help with admission or upgrade of scores; they would only deceive and defraud those who patronize fraudsters.

JAMB UTME Guide To Choosing The Right Course And Institution During Registration

1) Choosing A Course of Study:

Ask most candidates what they would like to study in school and they will easily give you an easy answer, but ask them why and they will start to gabble.

Many make the mistake of getting entangled in the unreasonable quest for professional courses like Medicine, Engineering, Pharmacy, and Law even when they know that they are not good in those areas.

With the current state of things in Nigeria and the world at large, it is no longer much of what you studied but what you can do with what you studied. So why not apply for a course you have the academic aptitude for or have passion for?

To help you make a good decision on that, I would like you to take time to ask yourself the following;
- What area of Human endeavor would I love to give my Contribution?
- What are my Natural abilities or talents (The things you do so well and yet easily)?
- What subjects am I really good at and have an interest in?
- What would I love to spend the rest of my life doing?

2) Interest Is Crucial:

There is hardly anything you can succeed in when you have little or no interest in such. The reason is that it is hard for you to put in the needed effort (and go the extra mile if need be) to succeed at something you have no interest in. Interest has a way of turning average performers into high achievers. Someone defined it as a psychological state of engagement.

It’s that kind of enthusiasm you have towards something that makes you give it your best and maximum attention. When students have little or no interest in their academics for one reason or the other, it has a way of negatively impacting their academic performances.

Educationists are of the opinion that lack of interest is probably one of the strongest factors affecting students’ performances. Why go for an engineering course when you know how you struggled in high school to make a “C” in Physics and Mathematics.

Many students have been asked to withdraw by their schools’ management due to their inability to cope with the demands of the courses they are studying. This is something they could have avoided if they had gone for a course they are good at.

3) Selection of Institutions:

Candidates should also be informed before making the decision concerning which institution to select or choose. There are three major things to bring into consideration. They are cost, course preference, and catchment area. In terms of ownership, higher institutions of learning are categorized under Public and Private. Private institutions are owned by individuals and organizations while Public institutions are owned by the government.

These public institutions are further grouped into Federal owned (owned by the Federal government) and state-owned (owned by the state government) institutions. This has a cost implication. Federal institutions of learning are cheaper in terms of cost compared to state-owned institutions while Private institutions can be said to be quite on the high side. So you need to put this into consideration. The course you wish to study is another thing you should consider before selecting an institution.

This is so because some institutions are better equipped to offer some courses better than others. Look out for institutions that specialize in your course of interest. Make research, ask questions from students who have attended such institutions before and try to get details of their experience studying such courses in that institution; it is worth the effort.

Also, candidates whose state of origin is captured in the catchment area of their institution of choice according to federal government guidelines on admission, stand a better chance of securing admission into such institutions. You may wish to consider this when selecting your institution.

Kindly adjust the info above

The correct statement is as follows:

......Candidates are not to pay any money to CBT centers.....the registration fee of 4,700 is to be paid to JAMB directly....also the issue of non-CBT center has been abolished....

Sir, do you mean if I have gotten my profile code and I proceed to bank to get e-pin, I'll pay 4700 at the bank.
Unlike last year where you pay 4k at bank and proceed to CBT center to pay 700,
The question is won't i pay any money at CBT if I paid 4700 at bank?
