As much as I like Babajide's punditry, there are things he is not suppose to be talking about on television regarding our security strategy.

You can't go on TV and be mentioning all the arsenal the Nigerian military are deploying against the enemies. What happened to the element of surprise?

Perhaps that is why countries like America will never trust us with their most advanced weaponry to the extent of selling such to us.

If Nigeria was engaged in aerial combat against an adversary that also possessed combat aircraft, then a greater degree of tactical secrecy would certainly be in order, but for the current war on terror where the enemy has no airborne combat assets, an argument could be made that there are in fact advantages to be gained for the airforce to make the terrorists aware that they are subject to surprise aerial bombardment by day or by night, and regardless of prevailing weather conditions.

What's the exact number in the fleet and the models

This type of information would certainly fall within the realm of closely guarded military secrets.

Lol.. you think he just walked up to the NAF airbase with camera? Series of approval was given from the NAF authority, high up before this interview was granted. I won’t be suprised if the video was sent to NAF for approval before it was eventually released to the public.

Very Recently a reporter from Nigeria's TVC News paid a visit to the Nigerian Air Force facility located at Maiduguri Airport, right at the front line of the nation's war on terror. A surprisingly detailed tour of various aircraft was permitted, and the reporter got to see up close the ground attack fighter jets and helicopters including the Alpha Jet, the new Super Tucano propeller-driven ground attack plane, and a few rather fearsome-looking Russian helicopters, all of which have been inflicting massive casualties on the terrorist virgin hunters in their hideouts all over northern Nigeria.

Before the armchair aviators and livingroom generals arrive to pour scorn on Nigeria's aircraft inventory, by comparing this lineup with those fielded by the US military, it is vital to recall that the primary role of ALL Nigeria's military aviation assets is to neutralize targets on the ground, rather than to engage enemy aircraft in the skies. For this reason, the comparatively slow propeller-driven Super Tucano planes, are in fact ideally suited for strafing and bombing virgin hunters that are observed scurrying about on the ground like so many cute little cockroaches. Without further ado, check out this video clip.

You think you can walk into a military base and start filming?
The station allowed is TVC, then you should know it’s a propaganda for APC party to run the next election.
Russia and USA always show the military jets or warships taking from their bases and targeting enemies site.
This is the first time Nigeria airforce is even allowing TV crew inside the airforce base.

Even if series of approvals were made, it still doesn't take away the fact that in times of war, you don't give away too many information to the enemies.

Statement like ''the enemies are surrounded'', ''we know where they are'', ''the army will soon smoke them out'', ''they have a camp in and around lake Chad'' are the bane of our misfortune in this war. I have seen journalists make these statements on TV.

Terrorists of Northern Nigeria are fighting for a Nigeria to be governed with Sharia criminal laws, the same shariah laws adopted by the political and religious leaders of the 12 shariah states of Northern Nigeria.

Military dictators from Northern Nigeria who supervised Nigeria's Constitution refused to include shariah criminal justice system in the Constitution. They knew the chaos its inclusion would provoke in a multi ethnic and multi religious Nigeria.

Sophisticated fighter jets to fight terrosists in Northern Nigeria is a waste because restructuring Nigeria politically so that the shariah states shall not aim to export their shariah to other states, that should have been ideal.

Parked planes are no threat to terrorists. Don't forget that these bandits and terrorists received air dropped materials from the air and I can't think of another airforce in Nigeria. I am not impressed. Stealth attack drones will do more damage to the bad guys than at tucano trainer aircraft.

why is Nigeria creating terrorism and still using it's resources to fight it or they want to act actor film

Few days ago ... it was reported that after receiving credible information and strategizing .... the military attacked a terrorist camp ... killing 13? .... but many escaped. Why was none of these ground attack aircrafts used? I'm sure they can explain. Up close and personal... a civilian ... from the media..... on a military base ... with camera ... like a tourist in a museum ... being shown and given information on what is supposed to be military secrets. I wouldn't be surprised if in a few days time they are all blown up.

The Nigerian military does deploy both surveillance and armed drones, but there is always room for more in that department. All roads lead to Turkey when needs arise for precision attack drones acquirable at highly competitive prices, and the Nigerian government would do very well to enter a manufacturing agreement with Turkey so that its prodigiously capable warfare drones can be imported and also manufactured under license in Nigeria.

grin grin I understand your point. But it’s all part of warfare. The military might not even be sure of those intel, but they have to put them out- atleast the ones that won’t jeopardize their operation- to make the enemy become jittery. See, warfare goes beyond shooting and bombing. We have media ware fare as well. Why do you think there are lot of documentaries about US military capabilities? It’s part of the game. Infact there are movies you watch and you think US military is infallible.

So, that the NAF gave access to their fighter planes doesn’t in anyway give them out to the enemy. It’s part of war tactics. You need to show that you’re more than capable.
