Why Our English Speaking Brothers Think Cameroon Is A West African Country by Nayah(f): 10:06am On Jun 23, 2011 |
I've noticed it on some threads in NLR or sometimes in some Kenyan, or Ghanaian messages. Cameroon is not part of ECOWAS and geographically closer to the Center than West. Maybe it's because Nigeria share a border, but this is only on english speaking forum because as for francophones Cameroon is a Central African land. Many thanks 1 Like |

Have friends in yahunde and douala. However, you can understand why some people might confuse the country as west african due to the proximity to Nigeria. I feel it stands to gain more by joining ECOWAS than central Africa. |
Re: Why Our English Speaking Brothers Think Cameroon Is A West African Country by Nayah(f): 11:26am On Jun 23, 2011 |
not really snowdroops in fact we only share a border with Nigeria as West African country but share borders with Gabon, Central African Republic, Tchad, Equatorial Guinea and Republic of Congo which are Central African countries. Besides even though we got a lot of Haoussas, Arab or Fulanis we have Bantu tribe as well and a lot of tribe share similitude in terms of linguistic. |
Re: Why Our English Speaking Brothers Think Cameroon Is A West African Country by snowdrops(m): 11:36am On Jun 23, 2011 |
Is it true that the English speaking folks in Cameroun feel marginalized by the rest of the country. |
Re: Why Our English Speaking Brothers Think Cameroon Is A West African Country by Nayah(f): 11:47am On Jun 23, 2011 |
snwodrops more in the 70's or 80's but now I don't really see how come they can be bitter cause English is together with French compulsory languages, they got now Universities and our Prime Minister is an english speaking Cameroonian. No, I don't really like Cameroon's authorities but one thing is sure: they are focused on peace and social cohesion and it's a priority for them Cameroon is a blessed and peaceful country, you can ask to Nigerian brothers who live there, and they're many |
Re: Why Our English Speaking Brothers Think Cameroon Is A West African Country by tpia5: 12:32pm On Jun 23, 2011 |
because it's close to nigeria. but you're right- it's a central african country, not a west african one. |
Re: Why Our English Speaking Brothers Think Cameroon Is A West African Country by tpia5: 12:33pm On Jun 23, 2011 |
Cameroon is a blessed and peaceful country, you can ask to Nigerian brothers who live there, and they're many not all of them have good stories to tell, but i understand it could be dangerous to voice dissent of any kind. |
Re: Why Our English Speaking Brothers Think Cameroon Is A West African Country by Nayah(f): 12:35pm On Jun 23, 2011 |
Tpia if Nigerians really suffered they wouldn't be more than 4 millions in Cameroon, now it can have some exceptions but as a general rule, they're living peacefully. |
Re: Why Our English Speaking Brothers Think Cameroon Is A West African Country by tpia5: 1:25pm On Jun 23, 2011 |
^^yes, everything is peaceful because dissent is dealt with, whether it comes from camerounians or whoever. if you know your entire village, LGA and region will suffer the consequences, you'll have incentives to be peaceful. btw, these "nigerians" in cameroon- are they not cameroonians? |

I would love to visit your country one day. I have to admit, from information at my disposal, it is far less troubled than Niaja. |

Re: Why Our English Speaking Brothers Think Cameroon Is A West African Country by aljharem3: 8:48pm On Jun 23, 2011 |

Re: Why Our English Speaking Brothers Think Cameroon Is A West African Country by Nayah(f): 12:43am On Jun 24, 2011 |
Lol my brothers the thing is sometimes people say I look like West Indies in France, in Cameroon they say I look like a Nothern girl like you've just done and some say Igbo girl quite funny. Anyway never hear about Kanuri before thanks I'll check to inform about them, are you a Kanuri? |
Re: Why Our English Speaking Brothers Think Cameroon Is A West African Country by aljharem3: 1:48am On Jun 24, 2011 |
Nayah: cool yes i am half igbo half kanuri u pretty though, where do u stay |
Re: Why Our English Speaking Brothers Think Cameroon Is A West African Country by preselect(m): 6:45am On Jun 24, 2011 |
Nayah: you sure look like one from a Bantu group. Most igbos have a Bantu appearance so it fits. Many yorubas and most of the southern ethnic groups in Nigeria are of te Bantu group of languages too. It seems Cameroon( Cameroun) is more peaceful than Nigeria. Have u guys got xtians and mus.Lims in near equal proportions? Bc that's what is killing Nigeria. |
Re: Why Our English Speaking Brothers Think Cameroon Is A West African Country by Nayah(f): 11:34am On Jun 24, 2011 |
lol Alj harem half igbo half Kanuri what a mixt and not very common though, thanks for compliments too Pres elect oh yeah I don't know if I look like a Bantu woman ( even I 'm really proud) but people used to make mistake when they want to guess y origins lol anyway I think Bantu women has this fabulous different beauty, shapeful and sensual Now back to topic, yes Cameroon is a very peaceful country with more than 280 ethnic groups and all religions in one country that's why we call Cameroon "Africa in miniature" and yes all religions live peacefully together we're about 60% of christians and 40% or muslims and animist. As I said previously, Cameroon focuses its politics on social cohesion and peace, because most of the countries around are quite instable |
Re: Why Our English Speaking Brothers Think Cameroon Is A West African Country by snowdrops(m): 1:43pm On Jun 24, 2011 |
Nayah:Thats remarkable. There is little difference between Nigeria and Cameroun in terms of ethnic and religious mix, yet the various groups in Naija are tearing themselves apart. |
Re: Why Our English Speaking Brothers Think Cameroon Is A West African Country by Nayah(f): 2:43pm On Jun 24, 2011 |
snowdrops yes that's what I've noticed here on NRL a lot of threads are about tribes and rivality between them here ( beauty, politics, economic, ) and I think it's kind of concerning Nigeria is a great and lovely country I wish I could go there once but I truly believe they really have to sit and talk about its future cause it's a serious issue these tribes ( religions) fight, may God help my Nigerian brothers to overcome it. |
Re: Why Our English Speaking Brothers Think Cameroon Is A West African Country by youngies(m): 2:44pm On Jun 24, 2011 |
Nayah: Cameroon is a beautiful country no doubt. But I think its peace is exaggerated. It has peace of the grave yard. It has a totalitarian regime Cameroon cannot be a miniature Africa with population of about 9,521,645 according to 2009 World bank estimates. |
Re: Why Our English Speaking Brothers Think Cameroon Is A West African Country by tpia5: 5:35pm On Jun 24, 2011 |
nayah do you really know much about cameroun because i think you said you're from france. have you ever lived in cameroon, and for how long. |
Re: Why Our English Speaking Brothers Think Cameroon Is A West African Country by Nayah(f): 10:02pm On Jun 24, 2011 |
Youngies just take a look at this please http://ncronline.org/news/vatican/africa-miniature-warts-and-all-awaits-benedict and you'll understand why we say Cameroon is Africa in miniature. As for your "totalitarism" you've refered too I don't really think a totalitarist country leaves tough and sometimes insulting reports on their news. Biya is not perfect, but for peace is an example sorry but it's true. Tpia, even though I'm not leaving in Cameroon I go regularly at home sometimes 4 times a year, cause this is my origins, so that with all due respect I know what I'm talking about |

There some Efik and Oron people living in cameroon. I hope you know when I become president of Nigeria I'm going to annex your country. And then annex Benin and Niger. |
