First of, when you hear APC, it's simply northern political machine, with Southwest as an appendage for national face outlook.

Southwest in general, with Tinubu in particular, and Osibanjo, has been played long time ago.
An average northern politician doesn't belief in Tinubu presidency, he was simply used to gather support for Buhari, and has been rewarded with a VP slot which he gave Osibanjo, and they know he is wearing corruption tag.
Osibanjo on the other hand, is a nobody to an average northern politician, he is just in the picture because of Tinubu, they neither regard him nor see him as a heavy weight fit for the office of the presidency, hence, not in their calendar.

I am Igbo from Southeast, yes we have strong argument for presidency, but I can categorically tell you that, North cannot at least at the moment, think of giving us power directly(this is the hardest truth), they are scared to their bones, due to the decades of injustice dished on us. Yes they have slaves like Rochas and Orji uzo who they could have handed power over to, but I can categorically tell you, they don't trust them intoto.

Why Amaechi and ditto southsouth?

1. That's Northern shortest cut to presidency come 2027. Amaechi will be elected, but his presidency will be plagued with allegation of corruption, truth or not, it's simply to smare him, tell northern voters that he's kworupt and cannot be elected in 2027, and also because southsouth via Amaechi has completed their 8yrs which eluded Jonathan.
He will be campaigned against, and El rufai who is most likely to be his running mate, will fight him, in the name of fighting against his corruption tendencies, and El rufai will contest in 2027.

2. North feels with the name Amaechi, and ikwerre being kind of close to Igbos, they will start hyping Amaechi as an Igbo man, that he is representing Igbos, just to assuage dissenting Igbo/SE marginalization voices.
This will divide Igbos, because some wouldn't want to give Amaechi headache, because Amaechi himself will start claiming Igbo in his campaigns while telling northern power brokers that he is Ikwerre and only claiming Igbo to win SE heart. And should Igbo elites go international with the marginalization story, Amaechi will claim Igbo and north will tell them that you see Igbo isn't marginalized.

3. So as to severe SE and SS relationship, isolate SE. This is because, SS will be empowered to taunt Igbos, and make themselves feel like the beautiful bride of the North, and their crude oil petrodollars used to build up north, because Amaechi will try to make the north happy in his first tenure to show them he's loyal and obedient. He will site so many projects in the north as campaign for northern support for second tenure.

Ngige was sworn in May 29, 2003. That year Anambra State generated N800m in revenue. 2004, the revenue quadrupled to N3.6bn, 2005, the previous year's revenue doubled to N7.4bn.
March 2006, he got booted out of office for operating with a stolen mandate and Peter Obi was sworn in Same 2006, revenue dips by over 40% to N4bn, He left office in March 2014 leaving the IGR at N8bn (2013). 2014, IGR jumped to N10bn. The numbers for 2021are not yet out but 2020 puts the State's IGR at N28bn.
I think there is so much to unpack here. In ~3yrs, Ngige was able x9 the State's IGR, Obiano was able to do x3.5 while Peter Obi could barely move the needle. It took Peter Obi 8 YEARS to surpass what he met on ground and the difference was just a billion.

Same 2004, in November, hoodlums allegedly financed by the Uba brothers (Ngige's erstwhile godfathers) took over Anambra for three days, they burnt down govt buildings, the govt's radio stations, I think govt house was also torched, Ngige's office and I think his deputy's

This is the environment Ngige operated and was able to x9 the State's revenue. Peter didn't also have it easy, he got impeached same year he was sworn in but he was there for 8 YEARS.

Nigerian politics has nothing to do with competence, it's all about North, and what the north wants.
It's all about isolating Igbos, for questioning northern political greed, incompetence, and largely because of the fear of division which the north dreads.
If they want competence, they Knows where to look.
