Drug test has been mandatory in the Army for many years and so many soldiers have been dismissed or demoted if found positive. I know so many soldiers in my former unit that were courtmartial for drinking while on uniform. A lot of people think Army is a rubbish organisation but there is a lot of discipline going on.

No. This is not acceptable. And then what happens if traces of drug is found in your system? Students shouldn't be made to forfeit their admissions on that basis. Had it being that there is a system in place to offer help to such students and not penalize them, then this will make sense. But we know this is Nigeria, where nothing is ever done right. This Marwa is using religion to come up with this authoritarian policies. Let him go and start in their Sharia north, where they have a culture of authoritarian.

Sometimes I wonder how these people reason?
So, somebody will now be embarrassed and extorted over this non sense policy.
Are they athletes? What classes of substances will constitutes the drug they are testing for? Have they done their research on all edible foods and plants in Nigeria to be so sure these things are not present in our local foods? What is their standard acceptable limit and how did they arrive at that?

What system have they put in place to help students that are already admitted who may drug issues? What system have they put in place to help families facing drug use issues across the country. If to work in a private organization or even to work in some government ministries, departments and agencies or to be admitted or to remain a student of some private universities in Nigeria mandatory drug test is a condition, likewise nothing stops any government university from making drug test mandatory for all staff and students. After all, universities are to award degrees based on character and learning and a drug addict lacks one and should be at the rehabilitation not in an academic environment. Kudos to NDLEA

Prosecuted for what? For drug use or for distributing drugs? Are you folks reasoning clearly. You are not even proposing helping students with drug problem fight it and win. The first thing you are saying is prosecution. How do you folks reason this way.

Universities are not created to award degrees based on character. Degrees are awarded based on evaluation of academic performance of students. Universities have rules and regulations in place that students must follow. If you wish to use character for awarding degrees, you can create a University for Character, and then apply for license from responsible agency.

The Nigerian Police force should be the first in the drug test policy list.
