How to Block Your Number And Hide Your Caller ID On iPhone or Android

Here's how to protect folks from knowing who's calling by hiding your outgoing caller ID and blocking your number.

You don't always want to risk your phone number falling into the wrong hands. You may be making work-relaHeadingted calls, contacting someone through Craigslist, or phoning a company you're unsure about. To safeguard your privacy and hide your caller ID in certain cases, you should block your phone number.

Below, we'll show you how to block your phone number on an iPhone or Android device. Remember that many individuals automatically reject calls from private numbers, so if they don't know it's you calling, they may not answer the phone.

1. Dial *67 Before the Number You Want to Call

To block your phone number, just dial *67 at the beginning of the number you wish to contact. If you want to conceal your caller ID from someone you've stored in your contacts, make a note of their phone number (or copy it to the clipboard) first. Then manually type (or paste) it into the phone app, using *67 at the beginning.

If you wanted to block your phone number while dialing 555-555-5555, for example, you'd dial *67-555-555-5555.

When you contact someone using *67, you will appear on their phone as "No Caller ID," "Private, "Blocked, or anything similar.

It's completely free to use *67, and you can use it as often as you like.

Of course, you need to dial *67 before any blocked phone call you want to make. So if you want to block your number for every single call, you might be better off using one of the following options instead.

2. Change the Caller ID Settings on Your Phone

By changing the settings on your device, you can block your phone number and hide your caller ID for every call you make. You can hide your caller ID on both Android and iOS devices, making you seem like you have no caller ID, are private, or are blocked to anybody you call.

After making these changes, dial *82 before the number you wish to contact to temporarily unblock your number. This overrides your previous settings and displays your caller ID once more.

Unfortunately, some phone providers do not enable you to turn off your device's caller ID. If you can't locate the settings listed below, go to the next step to learn how to block your phone number with your carrier directly.
