Very wrong. Our mothers had no choice, they obviously couldn’t go back to their father’s houses because their fathers told them to go back to their husband’s houses. It had nothing with being smart, majority of our mothers remained in toxic marriages where their husbands beat them on a daily basis and a lot of them have died in the process, why didn’t they leave? Where they being smart too?

The fear of leaving especially not knowing the fate that would become of their children is the sole reason why many of our mothers remained in their marriages with serial cheats and wife-beaters as husbands. Will a mother of four or five children in the olden days leave her husband’s house with them to her father’s house just because he sleeps around or he beats her up every now and then? How will the children fare? You need to ask mothers and grandmothers that have experienced such why they decided to remain in that marriage and you will get the same response from all of them.

Our mothers took a lot of bullshits and were made to believe that they were more like slaves to their husbands and that their sole responsibility was to “bare children” nothing else.

I won't say much but will use the analogy of true Christians who are considered fools by those who don't understand them. Do they have pains? O Yes

Bitter? LOL, I am only stating what I learnt from having discussions with some of these same women who are now grandmothers in this present day. Many of them didn’t have a choice than to stay. This is one of the reasons why a lot of people advise women of our generation never to stay in an abusive or toxic marriage because of their children.
You should try to make researches on your own before coming to conclusions.

Friend, we interpret things differently.
No doubt it was ,and maybe still, a man's world but the wise women influenced their home I'm glad you're a lover of Christ and I'm sure you're aware that a wise woman builds her home while the foolish plucks it down.No matter how mad a man is, he realizes the improvement that comes his way if the wife is good and submissive. I don't know your experience but I know,in the past, women returned to their parents when the marriage is unbearable and their husbands who realize their worth go with their family to "beg" for them to return.

It was a shame in the past for a woman not to be wise enough to live with/ influence her husband. Those who were properly raised endured and enjoyed marriage.

Many beautiful poems were written to praise our mothers and they were often rewarded by their children. Can we say the same about girls of nowadays? Who want to run away at any slight misunderstanding. You take them abroad to enhance their lives, they divorce you.

They want to be married and loved BUT hate the word submission.
