As it is now, there is no point amending the evil constitution now.

Because there is little or no difference to be added with the proposed amendments.

When placed against the envisaged impact on the life of Nigerians, it is just a matter of the difference between 6 and half a dozen.

So, let the struggle continue until there are representatives with human hearts in the national assembly.

State, local council police and the federal police without the control of political leaders but placed in the hands of Nigerians is possible. One positive thing that can be done is make the offices of the IG and the CP of the federal police, the state police and the local council police elective with candidates not necessarily from the service and being not members of any political party but with adequate requisite knowledge of law and society, relevant practical experience, etc. They can occupy the office for 4 or 5 years.

The police service can be like a department of the judiciary which has to be independent of political influences and made financially independent at local, state and federal levels. In UK for instance, the PM doesn't control the police, and from the little I have got to know, in some counties, commisioners of police are voted into office. They can be held accountable and sacked by the people when the need arises through a people-driven process.

We are talking about development which can never be possible without unsabotaged security of lives and property. Why are these politicians behaving like they can't think right?

backbencher:
State police is not possible largely because most if not all states cannot fund a state poloce force.

Not without heavy taxation. Which most Nigerians hate
I do not share you opinion here, where do the federal government got the money to fund the police, decentralized every thing and watch things sort itself out

The South should be there, trying to be politically correct. The plan of the north is the total invasion of the South and its annihilation, the north is just putting everything into place while the South are playing second fiddle because of greed.
