Like I said before, the consumption power and the ability for the consumers to pay for those electricity will be a great driving force in predicting the states that will do the most well.

Currently the state with one of the highest numbers of IPP in Nigeria is Ogun State. Even with a greater combined capacity and number than Lagos state.

I might be wrong but you can correct me if you have better source.
U re correct bro. Customer's willingness to pay can't be ruled out. . Am into IPP

Do you know the cost of building a 50MW solar plant?

Do you know the maintenance that would go into the storage and subsequent replacement of those batteries as they age?

It's not impossible, it's just grossly expensive given the other cheaper and more viable alternatives.

We are a third world country, we don't have money to throw around on experimental green energy that costs more in the long run to operate and maintain and are not as efficient.

It's all about cost, efficiency and feasibility.

Dude, are you not aware that solar and wind have reached parity with other sources and in many countries even cheaper?

The battery is not meant to 100% cover at night. It's just a way to smoothen demand and supply curves and keep the system going, especially during peak demand.

The cost benefit of the batteries would be positive, especially when you consider the cost of downtime of a power plant.

With the current development of blind cells and power mix that can be fix. Many appliances can be converted to DC that would tap it's current directly from panel during the day while other mix would take over at night
Pls expatiate on the blind cells

Do you mean the cheapest among all the energy source? C’mon solar energy is the cheapest you can find anywhere.

In some decades ago, solar energy used to be expensive but not anymore in this current age.

Lastly, by the way the Eastern region states are not the only states with gas, I hope you know?
Solar energy is not CHEAP in Nigeria. May be in a place like Germany or California, US. but not in Nigeria because we import everything.

You dont understand him. This is Nigeria, not US or Germany.

IT IS EXPENSIVE! QED.

May be when purchasing power increases, it would be cheap but for now, it is fucking expensive.

We are comparing solar to other equivalent energy sources, not to your or anyone's ability to afford a solar system.

Even before the new law, Lagos has already been investing in IPP for years. This new law will now enable it to get better.
Ondo state too has a power plant project at Ore, but the power generated there are not for households; it is only for industries at Ore industrial park.
There's Bonny Island too in Rivers state. They have never relied on national grid; they generate their power 100% independently.

It's on record that Ogun power plants gets gas from Imo gas fields in Ohaji. Even the Ogun power plants gets gas from Rivers and Imo

The cost of bringing gas out of the ground for use is not materially different if Anambra state controlled it compared to FG!! There is no huge cost being levied on you by any FG.

Just be ready to pay for electricity at the economically viable price, whoever is bringing it out of the ground. And not have this backward mentality that because it belongs to your state, it should be or will be cheap!!

You see the reason why Nigeria is backward, we dont have the economic brain power to analyze stuffs. What determines "cheap and expensive"? is it not what you get vs what you spend. If Anambra manages her gas well, and return the dividends to Anambra, you think they cant pay for more comfortably? In the US petrol is about 4$ per liter (2k Naira) but Nigeria paying 250 Naira for fuel is more expensive because, the people dont get 250 Naira easily. Like I said, only when States manages there resources, that Nigeria will make sense. For now, Peter is been robbed to settle Paul.
