This is no doubt a novel case and has set a judicial precedence thus all other defected governors and HoA members should be afraid now unless supreme Court said otherwise

I just can't wait to see Ayade kicked out of Office.
With his scam government.
If this judgement stands it will safe as a lesson to other politicians that u need to stay in the party the elected u with not robbing Peter to pay Paul.

The judgment is perverse. That's why there is appeal. The law does not prevent governor's from moving to any party of their choice, only law makers.

The question u should first and foremost answer in order to fully grab the reasoning of the Court is;
1. Was umahi an independent candidate in the election he won as a governor in Ebonyi State?
2. Was he a candidate of a political in the election?
3. Was he sponsored by a political party?
4. Is it his name that was on the ballot during the election or the party logo and symbols?
The office of the governor umahi was occupaying was at the instance and at the pleasure of the party in whose platform umahi stood to become the governor.
Election victories in Nigeria are that of the party and not of the individual.

Smh

PDP is a very useless party. No single truth in their mouth. They started this cross carpeting business, but no claiming innocent. This judgment will obviously be overturned on appeal and that corrupt judge will face justice.

Nothing like corrupt judge here can you show me anywhere in the nigerian constitution were independent candidacy is allowed?
