What is with Russia now invading the whole country Ukraine and calling for decapitation of the government What is with Russia trying to install a puppet government which they can control If Russian interest is in protecting those two regions, why didn't they just have their military hardwares in the two regions instead of a full invasion? They (Russia) claims that Ukraine is too close to them to have a NATO presence but take a look at the map I attached to this post and you will find that there are countries (eg Estonia) closer to Russia than Ukraine, yet Russia is not invading it. The whole issue here is that Russia is afraid of NATO expansion.
