The Ukrainian war has been plagued by Propaganda and this boils down to negative emotions.
Imagine young boys going to another country to show valor,without any form of military training.
The reality, is that, they will be used as bodysheild for the more professional soldiers.

That's the main reason Ukraine would be difficult to conquer.
They have volunteer forces not forcefully conscripted nor paid.
Russia really tried so far. Even America can't overun Ukraine easily or achieve any different result.
The population of Ukraine is 40 million, the active male are prevented from leaving and they have massive volunteers encouraged by their celebrities joining or posing to engage in combat. 200 thousand Russian soldiers are facing over a million of dedicated Ukrainians in unknown terrain.
Same thing played out during the Nigerian civil war. You can't defeat dedicated people fighting on ideology or for their ancestral land.

And you're wrong about your claim.
Many small boys who fought Hitler weren't the major determinants of the outcome of the war, matter of fact, they were used as what they called 'human wave'; a medieval time kinda offensive, the type you see in Vikings and Spartacus where people die like chickens. You can as well say they were used to buy some time by mitigating the pace of enemy advance.
