Reading through this, it sounded more to me like commending a nurse for finding and injecting the right vein of a patient or cheering one's father for providing your feeding money.

Save for the reality that these institutions are grossly corrupt, who would high-five an officer for turning down bribe and retuning a wrongly-transferred fund? Were they meant to take it in the first place?

Unfortunately, this is a big thing coming from them. Was it not our Super Cop who was busted for being a syndicate to a fraudster?

True in several cases, personal experience inclusive several times, however Nigeria Police is not one person.

They have the good, the bad and the ugly like every facet of our society and the situation won't suddenly change across board even if you yourself were made the Commissioner of Police in your state today. I have encountered several good officers among them, and I also agree that we should speak up on the ills but note that it's discouraging to always lump the good ones with the bad ones.

Its not a big deal

But in Nigeria, if police reject bribe.
E go appear for Breaking News
Channels, BBC, TVC will rush to interview them
They will give them Awards
Because it is very rare and only happens once in 20 years.

It's understandable, I run a business and I employ our people and I can tell you that I have only encountered just one person that I can vouch for. That doesn't give me the liberty to start labeling every Nigerian as untrustworthy. How is that fair on that one person that proved himself beyond any doubt?

You are correct. I can't play the ostrich and argue with that. I just feel bad for the good ones when I read the generalizations, and I don't want myself or any of my loved ones in their shoes. It's a matter of survival for many people and it's not like our country is loaded with options.

Go to the Airports and look at some of those younger immigration and customs services boys. When they plot to get bribe from you, you see clearly that some of them are not comfortable with what they are doing but the system is rigged against them and the bosses are often involved in the racket. They don't like what they are made to do but where are the options, and if they resign based on principles of integrity it's still our society that will mock them for not knowing the way and being stupid. Our country's matter is saddening.
