My first experience with an Igbo trader who sells shoes as a growing innocent boy was on a Christmas week, i went to a popular market to buy shoe for Christmas, my elder sister had given me the money so I can choose what would fit my feet, i got to the market and several shoe sellers who were Igbos started pulling me, one succeeded in dragging me to his stall , I told him I wanted a shoe for Christmas and without much Ado, he picked one of the shining shoes that cannot be polished and with a key holder and opener he turk my feet in and started patronizing me with a smile, he took the money that I had and as innocent as i was i walked away with his shoes on my feet holding on to my slippers, i took a bus which was about 45 minutes home but before I left, i had started noticing that the shoe was tight and causing me discomfort, when I got off the bus, my feet was damaged with wounds from the tight shoes , i had to remove it at home as i was blamed for buying a tight shoes. I couldn't explain that I never chose it , that i was tricked to taking the shoe without a choice, on the next day, i got on a bus to take me to the same place where I had bought the shoe, a little boy that I am at about age 8 or 9 , he sighted me with his shoe and said what do I want, I told Him the shoe was tight and I cannot walk distance with it before it damages my feet, i showed him the wounds from on my feet, he showed no pity even for my innocence and threatened to beat me up if I did not leave his stall. That was it for me, that was the first encounter i had with an Igbo man ,. I grew up with the impression of carefulness, and I have had several encounter with many and even recently and they have made an indelible marks of distrust in business on my mind. I have not had any reason to vouch for them with regards to reputation and I sincerely do not hate them either, but in business they can't be trusted. So sorry if I offend the sincere ones by my bluntness. It is good to speak the truth
