Source: Thisday Backpage, Today: http://www.thisdaylive.com/articles/cbn-set-to-develop-its-own-poultry-farm/94427/ Being one of the greatest defenders of Sanusi on Nairaland, this is not a cheery article for me. But being a proud Nairalander, I feel happy Nairaland is gradually taking its place as source of materials for newspaper commentators. Comments here are now being quoted to buttress opinions in national dailies. I don't know whether this writer is a Nairalander, or a visitor or just bumped into the quoted comments through google search. But whatever the case, Nairaland will soon become the go-to for policy evaluation discourses in Nigeria, if well managed. |

Despite the deafening public out-cry against some recent policy decisions of the CBN Gov, the truth remains that NOn-Interest banking, 150k Withdrawal limit and Steamlining of Banks are the hallmaks of his achievements |

Jarus: Dont kid yourself, we all know Nairaland and most opinions expressed on this forum are far removed from the reality that is todays Nigeria and wld therefor be nothing but a self delusionary gauge of the opinion of Nigerians. I'm sure the defunct team BB wld agree with me. As for your using the catchphrase 'if well managed', I just have to wonder what an Mod is insinuating. |

Jarus: You're very right. I love NL especially the politics section which to me, is a sort of "Youth Senate" with collective IQ, far much higher than the IQs of what we have as real senators back home. I expect public officials to be regular Nairalanders cos of the sort of bright minds on it. Very sound policies and public opinions can easily be sort from this forum. The forum is absolutely phenomenal. |
Re: Nairaland Quoted In Sanusi Critique In Thisday Newspaper by wesley80(m): 11:54am On Jul 04, 2011 |
enyojo: Sanusi's major achievement so far has been the restoration of confidence in Nigerian banks, at least now we know which are standing and which are on their knees. There was a time our banks were at the wrong end of unsavory innuendos in the foreign financial press despite gathering accolades from all sorts of bodies. Soludo's monetary policies were impressive but the mere speculation that Nigerian banks were internally troubled nearly brought the entire economy on its knees at the most critical time. Sanusi's policies may not be too popular on the streets but he's achieved the single most important ingredient of a financial mkt - Confidence, the jury's still out on him and its still early days yet. But so far, so good IMO. Jarus: Well, I do my honest patriotic bit as an ordinary floor member on this forum that wants to see his country succeed, question is; do you? |

Reports reaching us indicate that the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) has concluded plans to build its own poultry farm, which will, upon completion, be the largest poultry farm in Nigeria. This is in line with the latest direction of the CBN of becoming a diversified and profitable entity. To further this dual purpose of profitability and diversification, the new CBN poultry will supply the public with eggs and old layers. It will also supply chicken and eggs to the planned CBN hotel and conference centre. The CBN is confident of the profit potentials of its latest ventures as both the poultry and the CBN Hotel will rely on the long awaited CBN power plant for cheap power supply. Issues hampering the implementation plan for the CBN poultry were the delays caused by other stakeholders at the CBN who believe that hospital development is more lucrative. The poultry farm won out after a vigorous debate between the members of staff of CBN promoting it and those who thought that fish farming and cattle rearing were more promising. There is clearly a new creative impetus at CBN these days and the staff members promoting the fish farming and cattle rearing ventures are confident that if they can demonstrate vertical integration, their business plans would be implemented next. I want to be a CBN staff. |

One thing is sure, Sanusi is acting a script from the issue of some banks MD's saga to this issue of Islamic banking. He had to clear some obstacles in order to have a free center stage for his performance. I like his intellect, capitalizing on the loop-holes we have in our financial institutions. But one thing is sure, time will tell, |

To you all condemning Sanusi's actions, these are merely steps to boost the economy and provide job opportunities. You all expect him to sit in his office, watching the stock and foreign exchange and formulate policies without innovating PRACTICAL economic strategies such as this to help the nation's economic situation? Nah, am sorry it doesnt work that way. The Nigerian situation needs urgent resuscication and it cant be tackled simply by formulating policies and passing bills. What you dont know is that if it takes a 'world class hotel', 'poultry' or even a resort to CONTRIBUTE in boosting the nation's economy, then its all needed. Atleast you all will agree that it far better than spending vain days in power passing bills and paying the Legislators fat-salaries for doing NOTHING. Sanusi is hereby doing SOMETHING, afterall we havent seen ANYTHING that GEJ has done DONE or done EFFECTIVELY (He is busy nominating semi-literate-empty-brained-non-technocrats into office, i dont blame him much though --- afterall, men of same IQ roll together). As much as Dubai is an oil-producing location, its government tactifully invested in tourism so as to have something else to bounce back on when oil runs out as predicted years from now. So please let the man be, because since we cant point out the negative effects of building and investing in profitable-businesses being embarked upon by the CBN in its contribution to save Nigeria, then lets just pray for the best in such exploits and the success of many more to come. Nigeria has been taking loans from the World Bank and other Monetary Bodies, its time for us to drop those loans and start loaning to nations instead . |

one of the underlying role of government in a modern day economy is improvement of market outcomes particularly when there appears to be market failure in sight. That essential entails creating the requisite 'environment' to deep her economic policies that is tailored along her set objectives all geared towards acheiving the set goals with respect to the economy at large. I have critically analysed Sanusi Lamido's economic drives and methinks he really needs to undertsnad the role of a central bank governor is central and essesntial he is expected to harness his roles around formulating economic policies aimed at booating the economic propensities in the right direction. All of these varied implementation appears a duplicity of governmental role since the same CBN Governor practiced and preached the CBN intervention funds for the agric sector and other sector he felt required these funds all geared towards adding qualitative drive to the economic rank and file. I would like to ask the CBN Governor what has happened to NEEDS under his predecessor and why his not adding values to NEEDS,since his major argument for the sharia banking is centered around Soludo's programme. Strong Economic wills and not sentiments are the drivers of modern economies. I rest my case , |

same sanusi that said all banks should not invest in other areas of the economy rather than the banking sector is now building hotels and poultry, same sanusi that want to islamitize our banking industry and not making profit out of them is the one thinking of profitability of cbn which is primary and secondary motive is to regulate the banking industry, i dey lauf four this stupid country of ours. monkey dey chop babooon they work |
