And another factor is that Russia is in Europe which makes it easier to pipe gas to other parts of Europe which is a lot cheaper unlike US who has to ship from North America to Europe.

This project has been completed and this enabled them to effectively totally disconnect from Russian gas supply pipeline.

Lithuania now gets LNG supplied to their terminal directly from USA and Norway and they in turn also supply Latvia and Estonia.

In a nutshell the Baltic states have all disconnected from Russian gas all thanks to this great initiative by Lithuania.

It is so successful that they also partnered with Latvia so they can also utilize Latvia's underground gas storage facility to store additional LNG.
