No fewer than 11 soldiers have lost their lives in an attack lunched by suspected bandits on a military base in Kaduna state.

A source told salemgists that the terrorists who came in large numbers attacked the base located at Polwire village in Birnin Gwari LGA of Kaduna state and engaged the military men in gun battle

The invading terrorists came on motorcycles with heavy weapons including rocket-propelled grenade (RPG), they engaged the troops in a fierce battle that lasted for about two hours before dislodging the troops.

It was also learnt that the troops suffered several degrees of injuries. Their weapons were also carted away by the gunmen.

A military source said:

We lost 11 men while 19 soldiers were wounded in action, after they overwhelmed the troops. They also burnt down three armoured personel carriers (APC) after they overwhelmed the troops.”

About 19 wounded soldiers were evacuated to Birnin Gwari General Hospital and 271 Nigerian Airforce Medical Center for treatment.

The deceased soldiers were evacuated to the 44 Nigerian Army Reference Hospital Kaduna (44 NARHK) in Kaduna, salemgists learnt.
