EU Ambassadors Visit NNPC, Seek Deeper Partnership In Energy Sector by Eriokanmi: 11:08pm On Apr 11, 2022
European Union (EU) Ambassasdors in Nigeria on Monday paid a courtesy call on the management of the Nigerian National Petroleum Company (NNPC) seeking to strengthen its partnership with Nigeria in the energy sector.

This is according to a statement signed by NNPC spokesperson, Garba Deen Muhammad.

Speaking on behalf of the group, the EU Ambassador in Nigeria, Samuela Isopi, said as a result of the current geopolitical situation in Europe, the continent was interested in strengthening its cooperation with Nigeria particularly in the area of possible increase in the supplies of liquiefied Natural Gas (LNG).

“Nigeria is the fourth gas supplier to Europe. At least 40% of the Nigerian LNG is currently exported to Europe. We are not only major clients for Nigeria. We are also major partners in the Oil and Gas sector because some of the companies that are working with you are from Europe. So we share the same interest and same objectives,” Ambassador Isopi added.

Responding, the GMD/CEO of NNPC, Mele Kyari, assured the European delegation that the company would continue to deepen its historical relationship with EU companies in Nigeria in order to add more value to its business, particularly towards increasing gas supply to the global market and enhancing domestic gas utilisation.

Other diplomats from the European delegation on the visit were: Ambassador of Portugal, Luis Barros; Ambassador of Spain, Juan Sell; Ambassador of Italy, Stefano De Leo and Deputy Head of Mission (France), Olivier Chatelais

If Nigeria had been a serious country, she would have taken the place of Russia in Europe. But how can Nigeria meet Europe's LNG demand when it cannot meet its local demand?

But are we ready to make the $$$?

NLNG is still just beginning construction of Train 7, meanwhile those who started after us (Qatar) are operating 16 production trains (including 2 megatrains) and taking Final Investment Decision (FID) on like Train 20.

We all know the petroleum story and how all is stolen even before shipment as the thieves no dey gree share with Government again.

Naija will be well and great again someday soon.

In the face of obvious hypocrisy. EU now seeks a deeper relationship with Nigeria in its energy sector

And Nigeria staying mumu staunch loyalist without seeing how best it can exploit the situation economically

Gas wey never even reach us. Per kg of gas in Nigeria is daily on the rise and all time high.

We really lack smart leaders

At times, when you read some comments you wonder the high level of ignorance among people.

The ones shouting 'gas wey never reach us' do you know how many trillions of cubic Gas in this country?

To the extent if utilized well it will serve both Nigerians and Europe as well. I tell you guys that Gas is the future of this country just like how Crude oil was in the past.

It's a great opportunity for this country IF the right management handles it well unlike the corrupt NNPC.

sad These European hawks have remembered our oil and gas, after siding with the US to manipulate the foolish Ukrainian government into a war with Russia. Now they joined US to sanction Russia, but she's somehow sidelining those sanctions and giving it back to them by demanding payment for her oil and gas in roubles. And to think that Russia supplies 40% of European gas.

Simple truth, I've been studying the energy sector for a while now and have discovered that we don't even need any foreign aid to get electricity and gas lines across the country in a very safe and efficient manner for all.

The rate of reckless abandon across some government agencies in this country is shocking. Agreement upon agreement and no visible improvement.

Useless, lazy wasters. By now, Nigeria gas pipeline would have settled on European soil as "bride waiting for a priced groom." No, they wasted 8 good years searching for cow grazing route. Fura de Nunus!
