Can people not think and see how the potency of their beliefs seems to hinge on the ascription of the most trivial events that can naturally occur to be evidence of the divine? That is the lowest bar there is.

A more appropriate quote would be "What God can do, does not exist."

God is not in hell, and Nigeria is the hell of this present world. Obsession with religion is one sure sign that God is not with Nigeria because people are searching for God and God is not in [organised] religion but they think that he is there so they continue to increase there.

Some of these people lived a rather Godly life, despite being irreligious, or practiced the religion of the time and place. (God being defined as the embodiment of all that's good here)

Even the characters of biblical prophets were not perfect and they never had it all, Moses committed murder, and after he freed his people, the moment he turned his back, they turned to worship a golden calf, it must have been a miserable job.
Even the character of Jesus, despite being the closest thing to a perfect person, was betrayed and suffered a miserable death.

Imperfection and tragedy seem to be the norm in life. I'm sorry if this may offend you, but I have reason to hold that religion, is partly a copping mechanism to this problem.

And nothing has paralleled science in being able to explain and utilize the working nature of physical reality.
