This is the real tragedy of our mindset towards democracy. Not too long ago, Tinubu was quoted as asking government to recruit 50m youths into the army. If the youths are thinking straight, they should take note of the 50 million figure. Why?

Anybody with at least 25 million votes wins Nigeria's general election. Which means Nigerian youths by themselves can decide whoever they want as president of Nigeria. They can decide to rally round a Kanu Nwankwo, a Seun Osewa or Ahmed Musa and their consensus choice becomes the president as long as they take action by registering to vote and showing up to vote on election day.

That is the meaning of 'power belongs to the people'. We love creating mirage of 'impossibilities' in our mind and glorifying the mirage instead of breaking new grounds.
