Does being a minister forbid one from practicing or promoting their faith? Did he make the statement as an official statement from his ministry or as an Islamic faithful?

The occasion under which he made the statement was..

So do we expect him to start talking about 4G, 5G, or sim registration in such an event? undecided

By the way, let us stop being too hypocritical, we have leaders, governors, ministers, who make donations to Churches in the tens of millions, no one raises eyebrows over this, but once a Muslim does the same you see us go up in arms against them? Why this intolerance? Are we the only ones with rights to religion?

D you recall how the ecumenical centre was built in Abuja? Did anyone shout about it?

You see, these things we do when Islam is mentioned is the reason MURIC came up with that RCCgization bullcrap against Osinbajo. It was just like a payback.

Make we leave Muslims to practice and promote their religion in peace. We build churches, they build mosques. Everyone's happy.

Have a nice day
you can simply go to his facebiok page and contradict those northerner who did not see any usefulness in his statement than engaging everyone here who are saying the same thing with the northerners

It wouldn't have mattered if he wasn't a minister/public servant.
You think he doesn't know what he is saying? If you know him,you won't blame those attacking him.

If he had talked about Islamic universities, maybe those interested would welcome it but every mosque is a time bomb waiting to explode on Fridays after Jumaat.

Ordinary return of schools to their owners, they'd start riot.

blowjohn:
Let us be fair in our criticisms.
Pantami is a Muslim and was also trying to promote his religion.
Same way a Christian would talk about building a massive structure and talk about its importance both historical and culturally.

What am happy is that weda its Muslim or Christian, the scenario is similar. Both followers usually end up voicing their views about the fact that there are more pressing issues than religious structures.

My own is that let he who is feels religion is more fundamental than food do his bit.
Let he who thinks food is more fundamental do his bit too.

Thank u.

I personally hypocrisy is our bane in this part of the country we tend not to see anything good from other side of the Niger but everything about spread of christianity is cool. The minister is a Muslim and we are shouting more than the bereave. We have criminals in all religious sect be it christianity,Islam & Traditional worshippers all form of criminality should be condemned and not the religion. My take!

The occasion wasn't an occasion to assess his ratings as a minister. I suppose since he "hasn't" "presented or suggested any innovation that has worked", he should cease being a Muslim or cease supporting Islam?

The publishers of this news know exactly how shallow minded Nigerians could be once religion is mentioned. They've tuned the people's minds to see things the way they desire, hence the responses we're reading here.

He's a Muslim, he has rights to promote and practice is religion. That is totally UNRELATED with his job description.

Goodbye.
the only reason we're here delibrating on this futility is because after all his numerous affiliation with different terrorist organization, which would have saw him cooling in jail but he is still in the helm of affairs in a country piloted by religious partisans. How I wished this was a saner clime ,you would have nothing to support him with undecided

He is speaking as a cleric and it's good that Islamic centres are built. It would be great if they are used to reduce the number of children roaming the streets as almajiri looking for knowledge.

However, our problem is not that we don't have the knowledge, but it's useless truely in most cases. Our greed and selfishness has overpowered the good that both Islam and Christianity teach. None of them teaches us to steal, lie, kill, abuse or do bad, but we go to places of worship, learn, and still do bad while claiming to be religious.

So the problem is that we are the problem and that should be what we are looking for a solution to.

Isa patami is unveiled. Typical Islamic bigot, pretending to be in love with religion and religious activities whereas he is disguised armed or unarmed combat looters of public till.

Compare his pictures here with rosy cheeks and his days before public till was placed at his disposal, you can make your own opinion. He has begun religious philanthropy just like his teachers and when the money finish he goes back to campaign for religious affiliation again.

People like this never dream of establishing a business and provide gainful employment to the miscreants round about his house.

Teacher teaching nonsense.

And we Christians would find everything wrong with this, whereas we live in neighborhoods with tons of churches everywhere, and have GOs opening new branches everyday.

We can sometimes be too intolerant of the faith of others.

Left to me alone, all these religious organizations, from Mosques to Churches, will have their activities heavily taxed so not every idiot could just up and open branches as they like. Eliminate all that bullshit hypocritical "opening prayer" from official activities, with people opening with prayers only to lie all through the activity, and then close with a prayer.

Government will then hands off sponsorship of pilgrimages for the people. Let everyone carry their religious cross. There's nowhere in the Bible or the Quran (though I'm not completely sure about this) where it is stated one cannot make it to heaven or paradise if they aren't a pilgrim.

Religion ordinarily should be a good this, but in Nigeria it has remained one of our biggest problems.
We condemned both. Christians do criticize this kind of move but can you say the same about Muslims? They LL tag it anti Islam

I don' t understand the virulent attacks on Mr Patanmi,if it was a christian saying more churches should be built we will applaud him. This hypocrism have to stop if we want a country built on justice and religious tolerant.
The intolerant against Islam is too much among some christians and this is not going to do US any good.
He is a muslim first before he becomes a minister and secondly the issue on ground is all about Islam growth and you can't expect him to be discusding 5G and communication there.
Please let stop this intolerant and live in peace with one another.

Damn. I am so proud of Northerners especially Muhammed Isah who told Pantami the region needs more factories and economic empowerment than Mosques.

Leaders like Pantami are the problem of the North and Isah is completely right because what he identifies is actually a consideration many analysts agree is a panacea to the problems of the North.

Northerners should read the report below and start actively taking back their region from callous and oppressive religious/political leaders who use religion class division and political power to oppress, disenfranchise and deliberately underdevelop the average Northerner.

I have provided an excerpt below but the full article is worth reading.

The fact is that the problems of the North, causing excruciating poverty in the region, are well-documented and solutions are comprehensively and clearly enunciated.

Yet the attitude and talk of Pantami, vis a vis what he considers important to spread as a message, shows why solutions are not forthcoming for the North.

It is the likes of Dr Sani, the author of the article below, who should be leading everywhere across the North.

Dr. Sani wrote this piece from Department of Business Administration, Bayero University, Kano.

https://dailytrust.com/poverty-in-northern-nigeria-causes-and-remedy

Poverty In Northern Nigeria: Causes And Remedy

Poverty in the North is most of the time associated to factors such as illiteracy, people’s attitude to economic prosperity, corruption, bad governance, child destitution (like almajiranci, begging), income inequality, ethnic clashes and poor economic roadmap. However, all of those factors are, inherently, the resultant repercussions of poor entrepreneurial initiative at community/society level.

That is why, even though no region or nation has ever experienced zero level of entrepreneurship, more entrepreneurially characterised nations/regions are socioeconomically better, and poverty and other related factors seem to be low.

Therefore, lack of sound entrepreneurial initiative is the main cause of poverty in northern Nigeria.

Thus, to remedy the situation, entrepreneurship which involves the process of creative use of available resources to solve people’s socioeconomic problems, must be promoted and encouraged.

To promote and encourage entrepreneurship in any social setup, institutional (government) interest and support to entrepreneurial activities are ever necessary.

Nonetheless, several institutional initiatives have been undertaken to stimulate entrepreneurship and help reduce poverty in the entire northern region but, fruitful result is not yet observed; and by all indications, reducing the poverty is bleak; and it would continue to prey on the North and northerners, unless the following measures are taken; namely:

Regional collaboration: nothing is more common amongst northern Nigerian states than poverty. Meanwhile, the trend in which the world is moving is changing and it presents myriad of challenges to nations/regions, which makes it difficult to stand alone and achieve greatness.

Thus, the damage caused by poverty on the North, is so gigantic that, no northern state can single-handedly overcome the poverty. Hence, northern Nigeria states should, as a matter of urgency, come together unanimously to objectively and realistically discuss the poverty challenge that bedevils their region.

This involves constructive exploration through resource, knowledge and expertise sharing to develop ‘poverty-curtailed’ strategy to be adopted by each of the northern states.

The strategy must be developed along the continuum of the creation of critical value chain of bestowed northern resources where the North has competitive or comparative advantage; joint creation of strategic industries in power and energy; empowering and supporting northern youths’ entrepreneurial capacities; infrastructural development in land, water and railways; and ensuring disciplined and determined leadership governed by honesty, openness and transparency.

Security enhancement: insecurity generally exposes individuals, regions and nations to increase threats to lives and properties; it also obstructs business activities and discourages investment of time, energy, talent and resources in effect, suppressing entrepreneurial activity. Thus, effective entrepreneurship development that stimulates ‘inclusive’ economic growth and reduces poverty is never possible unless lives and properties are adequately secured. Therefore, northern states must consider security challenge in each state as a concern of all.

There were even older universities in Africa before the universities he mentioned in Fez Morocco and the other in Cairo. But the ancient Egyptians just called it "temple" i.e temple of learning. The pillars of some of them are still standing among the ruins of empire. Therefore, institutions of learning had been in Africa for thousands of years before the arrival of Islam in our lands. For more information, see ancient Egyptian temples still standing today

Having said that, you don't need more mosques. Things have changed since those universities were built.

Education is not static. It changes from generation to generation depending on the need of a people. We don't need more mosques today..

If you're looking for solution, then build a type of institution that would work for African people. Mosques are foreign and "haram" to African culture.

Build a modern school designed around African culture and send children to school. Free yourselves from religion. It should be obvious to you all in the North that religion is a disease.

I don't know what those criticizing him want him to say at an event about building an Islamic center. May be they want him to say Muslims should not build mosques and other Islamic centres because there are many other serious problems to be solved first.
Pantami was there as an Islamic scholar not as a Minister of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
