So long as you leave open the possibility, I have no issue with what you are saying. My former friend who I mentioned tried to shut out the possibility altogether. Also, the fact that his memory was poor doesn't necessarily invalidate his account - for according to him, he was a little kid at the time he was taken.

Also the talk of "EBOE part of Benin Kingdom" is not quite right is it?

I really wouldn't know.... I can only say with reference to the Ibo name issue that heaven knows what that kind of trauma can inflict on the mind of a child. With respect to the issue of an Ibo part of the Benin kingdom, who knows.... Benin was certainly expansive and I don't think it's inconceivable that they had expanded into land occupied by Ibos.

I am not Igbo but it really irritated me that my once upon a time friend insisted Olaudah could not be Igbo especially because I knew his stance came from a belief that the Igbo race has no history of note.

I despise all racist, ethnic and tribalist chauvinism.

Your stance seems reasonable to me.
