I love taste of tomatoes in it

I grew up eating egusi soup with tomatoes even tin tomatoes in it...but when I went to the east I ate it without tomatoes....but I think I like the one with tomatoes more

I love tomatoes in my eggs abeg. Without it, I confess, the egusi can seem a bit bland.

That is Yoruba style of cooking egusi soup, which isn't totally bad but not ideal.

I prefer my egusi soup without tomatos. I cook mine the native way and if you taste it, hmmm... You'll know the tomato version is a counterfeit.

If you use fresh pepper to fry your egusi before adding stock, it will still give you that tomatoes taste. That's another way I cook my egusi if I don't wanna go the native way. However, egusi with the right native fish and spices beasts the "tomatorized" version. .

There is no particular way but cooking egusi soup with tomato is common in some places.
