It's sad that most of us have not identified the best man for the job in 2023, in person of Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi. This man is what Nigeria direly needs at this time.

subsidywise18:

Yes i know, but the subsidy is also costing us billions in lost revenue, jobs and investment.

Even Dangote refinery. If petrol from that refinery is put under subsidy it will collapse due to lack of profit.

And the snuggling of cheap petrol is costing us dear.

This year we are throwing away 4 trillion on the thing. Money that could have been used for housing, health and education among other things.

And ultimately it is the rich importer fat cats that benefit

can u look at it from this angle...at the end of the day...what benefit is not paying the subsidy on the masses...??
we will end up buying fuel for exorbitant price and still not see the dividends of the trillions that ddnt go into subsidy payment because of corruption...

imagine a government that borrows money to dash Afghanistan millions of dollars..

imagine a government that borrow money to buy bullet proof cars for themselves when they could collect from innoson and pay less, for longer and even with offiering innoson tax holiday ....

The money removed from subsidy will just be stolen at the end of the day...

they built railway and train transport without an automated system of revenue collection .... massive revenue leakage is currently going on in the new railway transport scheme because ticket is manual...

how can a government borrow money to set up a revenue generating scheme without a proper means of revenue collection and a failsafe means of how to make massive profit in 10-15 years...

these people ruling us don't care..all they want is to set up projects to steal from by inflating cost of execution...thats why they don't care about project maintenance framework..

I may sound insensitive..but if subsidy is all we can get from this government...lets keep getting it...they have enough to pay...if not they won't be stealing...once they stop subsidy..its just more money for their pocket..

*He was the first Governor in Nigeria to legally challenge his wrongful impeachment and was reinstated by the Courts.

*He was the first Governor to serve a 2nd term in both the new and old Anambra State, that is, almost 40 years after creation of the State.

*He was the first Governor, whilst still in Office, to be appointed a Special Adviser to the President.

*He was the first serving Governor to be appointed into the Presidential Economic Management Team.

*He was among the first Governors to be honoured with a National Award in 2011, while still in office.

*Though the only Governor whose political party was in government in only one State, he was elected Vice-Chairman of the Nigeria Governors’ Forum twice.

*Though the only non-PDP Governor in the South-East (made up of 5 States), he was elected by the other 4 PDP Governors as their Chairman for 8 years rather than the usual one year.

FUNDAMENTAL ACHIEVEMENTS AS Peter Obi as GOVERNOR OF ANAMBRA STATE (PARTIAL LISTING)

1. Anambra was the first State to commence Sub-Sovereign Wealth savings, the first of its kind in Sub-Saharan Africa. At a time many other Governors were leaving huge debts, I left the equivalent of $500 million Dollars in investment as well as local and foreign currency, including $156 million in Dollar-denominated bonds.

2. For the first time in the history of Anambra State, Ambassadors and High Commissioners of notable countries such as United States, Britain, Russia, European Union, South Africa, Belgium, Israel, the Netherlands, Canada, among others, visited the State. Before my tenure, Anambra was practically a pariah state blacklisted by the Diplomatic Corps and international development partners.

3. Development partners such as UNDP, UNICEF, the World Bank, DFID, the European Union etc., which hitherto were not in Anambra State started working with the State. Anambra was consistently adjudged one of the best states in development partnership and commitment to reforms for good governance.

4. He was recognised as Best Governor by the Millennium Development Goals Office (OSSAP-MDGs) and the UNDP in the implementation of their programmes in Nigeria.

5. The Nigerian Debt Management Office (DMO) rated Anambra as the least indebted state in Nigeria. In spite of visible and measurable achievements recorded in various sectors, the State under him did not borrow or raise bonds for her various projects.

6. The Senate of the Federal Republic of Nigeria rated Anambra State as the most financially stable state in the country.

7. The State’s ground-breaking return of schools to their original owners – Voluntary Agencies (Churches) on 1st January 2009, and subsequent partnership with the Agencies in Education, saw the State move from 24th position out of 36 States to Number One in National Examination Council (NECO) and West African Examination Council (WAEC) examinations for three consecutive years. This made the World Bank to commission a study, led by the renowned Prof. Paul Collier of Oxford University, on this revolutionary partnership and phenomenal achievement.

8. The State also entered into strategic partnership with the Churches in the Health sector. This symbiotic relationship resulted in a tremendous boost to health care because of the services offered by health institutions owned by Voluntary Agencies, while the State restored grants to the agencies and made available to them more than 50 million Dollars in various types of support.

10. Through partnership with the Church in the Health sector, his Government funded the transformation of -:

a: Iyienu Hospital, Ogidi;
b: Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital, Ihiala;
c: St Charles Borromeo Hospital, Onitsha;
d: Holy Rosary Hospital, Waterside, Onitsha; and
e: St. Joseph Hospital, Adazi-Nnukwu.
His Government also built the Joseph Nwilo Heart Centre in St. Joseph, Adazi-Nnukwu, where heart operations are now being performed.

11. His Government won the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation (1 Million dollars) as the best-performing state in immunisation in the South-East. With complementary funding from our Government, they used the money to build 10 Maternal and Child Care Centres across the State, particularly in rural communities, in partnership with the Churches.

12. The State was the first to procure and distribute more than 30,000 computers to secondary schools, including 22,500 from HP. The Managing Director for Personal Systems Group HP Inc, Mr.Fabrice Campoy described the deployment as the biggest of such projects in the Middle-East and Africa.

One with human life, face, mind & intention.

One that justify the means of being Nigerian.

One that has value & add value to others to be valuable.

One that is sensitive, sensible, selfless & truly caring about others wellbeing as much as for him/herself.

One that see others as human beings like him/herself.

One that act rightly & timely more than talk.

One that knows & do what is needed at every point in time.

One that can act & speak for us by him/herself.

One that knows he/she's call to serve not rule hence should listen to our needs always.

Nigeria and other African countries nko ? They have a better standard of living compared to most African countries

Just about the same, or worse than most African countries.

You won't want to live in a Kim like government.

1.Travel is highly restricted. You cannot 'japa', it's an offence against the state, punishable by a term in prision.

2.You cannot set up a business, you must work where the State puts you to work.

3.Travel within the country is restricted. You must get permission from the appropriate office to travel from point A to point B in the country...eg from Pyongyang to Wonsan for example. And on arrival, the local law enforcement would barge into your host's house and check that your internal passport has the right stamp. If it does not...

4.You cannot express any contranry opinion or blast or criticise the Kims or the government. That's jail time bunny.

5.You cannot follow religion. Plus, many religious people in the begining of the regime were locked up in prisions...for the rest of their lives.

6.There are prision camps where people have been locked up for life....for being anti-kim dissenters. Some have been executed. (In the begining of the DPRK, there were 4 factions in the government....by 1970, all but one, the Kim Il sung faction were gone. Most of the leaders and followers were purged...executions, or being jailed in prision for life.

7. North Korea underwent a famine for 3-4 years in 1990 that killed millions. And no it was not because of sanctions...it was because the dictatorial nature of the regime meant that farmers could not be innovative in the way they farmed...everything had to be done by the state.

For a neutral perspective on NK...read the works of the Russian writer Andrei Lankov.(title page below) (since most of you guys would say that Western authors are biased). I would add that Nigeria is awful....but some of the things in NK make Nigeria look nice.

Your number one is not true. You are free to leave the country, but only through Beijing, China. Though, you'll need some clearance.

Majority of our religious leaders should be in prison. Some politicians use them to launder money abroad. I guess its one of the reason Buhari wanted to tax religious organizations some years ago.

All together, Nigeria is worse when compared to North Korea.
