The first one is correct

Reason:"Did" shows that it happened in the past;hence,"did" can only go with "present tense"verbs

Primary auxillary verbs determine the tenses in which Lexical verb are.
He went to kano=>He did go to Kano.

Both sentences are right!

First sentence: The question was asked when the Mum is still outside.
Second sentence: The question asked when the Mum returned from her journey.

So all verbs to do,verbs to have and verbs to be determines the tenses of main verbs in the sentence.

"He wants to learn" can be coverted to include verb to do,and if this happens, the main verb "want" can't determine the tense. E.g "He does want to learn".

It is wrong to have tenses determined by both main verb and primary auxillary. E.g "He did killed the rat",it should be "He killed the rat" or "He did kill the rat".

Both sentences are right! First sentence: The Mum is still outside. Second sentence: The Mum is already back from her journey.
The later's wrong.

lol yes naa 100% I have a B. A. In English and Literary Studies.
Anywhere you see do, did, does, will, shall, should, would, may, might etc just know that the next verb MUST be in present tense and plural form. If you have any problem with identifying a verb in a sentence you can let me know

yea. You can't tell if a lexical item (word) is a verb or noun in isolation, it must be put in a sentence or at least context to determine its syntactic category. For instance the word "fight" would automatically be classified as a verb by most people whereas it is not possible to tell if its a verb or not just like that. So if you want to know how to identify a verb in a sentence you can let me know

Obviously the First is correct.
Meanwhile, the sentence via which you posed the question is wrong too.

SMART MIND, ur moniker is noted.

I don't why people still make mistakes of applying "lose" & "loose" where necessary, despite ongoing campaigns against such literary malady.
