Good question...

These people come in from other continents to reap here, and we term them all "Expatriates"!

When Nigerians or Africans go abroad to work under the very same situation, they are termed "Immigrants" or "Immigrant workers"!

I think the problem is more with the Colonized than the Colonizers!

Arrest that driver asap. He knows what killed the boss. No Indian can commit suicide without first, consulting his fellow Indians at the temple in lekki.

He was clearly killed for some other reasons.

Frustration is is really biting hard on some people and many are just ending it on suicide. This shouldn't be among the possible options in resolving any issue in life. This life has no duplicate. The loved ones are now left to emotional trauma over him.

I was expecting the usual line from you grin

An expatriate is on assignment.

Such an individual has a sought after skill which was requested of him/her to utilise on a project.

It is expected that an expatriate returns to his/her homeland at the end of the project tenure except the individual's circumstances change e.g. marriage, extension of contract, incident not easily projected.

The terms may overlap at times, but most of the time, a Nigerian working abroad is also looking for citizenship abroad...that's why they get called immigrant workers.(Abi many of those people porting to Canada or US are not thinking of coming back after two or three years!)

(And it isn't a thing of shame, a lot of people of all races do the same in many countries. I once watched a video of a white man who emigrated to Japan. Unlike his fellow white people working there as expats, he was an immigrant...who started as an expat worker)

There has never been a time issues regarding MENTAL HEALTH need to be discuss with so much attention as now especially for people leaving in this part of the world. Many are dying in silence, many wish to talk to someone but there is no listening ears probably because of numerous noise from insecurity, division, economic hardship, collapsing education, degrading career, high coat of living and the many health challenges ravaging the nation. Virtually every sector of the economy is sick.

Choice. An expatriate can choose to go home to his country because he feels (knows) his home country is better. An immigrant wants to leave his home country for what he believes is a better life. A refugee is fleeing his home country for safety in another. Doesn't have to be much more economically prosperous. Just secure

Expatriate is an oyibo or anyone from a country more developed than Nigeria that comes to Nigeria to work. Like all those oyibo in Chevron

Immigrants are blacks that travel from Africa thru Libya to get to europe.

Refugees are those people that because of war they can't stay in their country so they cross border & enter the other country where there's no war to wait for d war in their country to finish
