I see some people saying if thermostat has been remove it means a car has overheated b4, thermostat is to regulate the flow of water until the optimum working temperature of the vehicle is attain, especially in a very cold country/region, in Nigeria thermostat is of no use because we don't ve that type of weather.

Easy way to know if car has overheated b4 is as follows
* cylinder wears, u most loose the cylinder block otherwise known as engine block to find out
*burning of the cylinder head gasket, even if it is been replace, the cylinder head will leave a trace of burning
*if the overheating goes to the point that the engine got knock, movement of the piston in the cylinder can never be the same, which will definitely alter the smooth sound of the vehicle.

There is no sure way of knowing if an engine has overheated before if there is no damage to the engine or oil mixing with water or leaking head gasket.

Some have connected fans directly for reasons best known to them.
Some have removed thermostats for reasons best known to them.
Some have changed their radiators from single to double cell for reasons best known to them.

Probably half the cars on our roads are running without thermostats, double cell rads and fans connected directly.

I don't think they are all overheating or have overheated.
