Students and youths, on Tuesday, gathered in their number to protest in Ibadan against persistent school closure following the strike action of the Academic Staff Union of Universities.

The students gathered in front of the University of Ibadan with various inscriptions on their placards calling for an end to the ASUU strike.

It is very sad that the minister of State for Education and the Labor minister (the two ministries primarily responsible for ending the ASUU Strike) alongside the Incumbent Vice President would have the effrontery to vie for the office of President when Millions of Nigerian youth lie ideal at home wasting their lives and years. As a point of reference it’ll take the highest paid professor in a Government university 20yrs to earn a net salary of 100million naira. Yet these ministers pay 100m as though it’s chicken fee so why shouldn’t lecturer’s demand better.

Also I blame the ASUU President for not being proactive, for being too laid back and not employing young minds to help in their agitation. ASUU is too laid back, the President should be on every television station and top social media pages like @instablog, etc telling the world how these individuals don’t deserve to vie for any office when they’ve failed to resolve the current educational crises which is their primary responsibility. It’s not enough to down tools and go home to sleep, these people want something, they’ve an ambition, threaten their ambitions and watch them settle ASUU ASAP. ASUU leadership is old and naive and don’t want to employ young brains to enable them use social media to their advantage.

P. S During General elections these same lecturers are the people politicians use to rig elections for themselves so why are they complaining of bad leadership when they rigged the leadership into power

The Nigerian government/Politicians are not interested in the educational system of this country.

Its been so since time immemorial and so would it be till maybe we one day we wake up because obviously everyone is still sleeping! sad

Nigeria is a failed state by all standards.. sad

The Britons shouldn't have left us in the 60s, they should have stayed till maybe the 90s.

...the heat always gets to them first, hunger induced skull mining, ritual killings, drugs and traffic robbery, yet they will be the first to pick useless candidates.

Drop all ideas of Thiefnibu now!.. maybe Nigerians won't mind taking their chances with Osibanjo if PDP fails to give Obi ticket!

Most students that I know don't want this strike to be called of

My earnest request to the govt and universities is to fish them out and cancel their admission.. They cannot keep dragging us behind

Please go to abuja, national assembly, aso vila too..make your voice heard to the world. None of those buying presidential form for 100m naira had his children schooling in Nigeria...check it. The newest person to join the race is gov fayemi. He has one of the best private universities in Ghana meanwhile, he graduated from a Nigerian University.

If only our youths were serious they should form their political party cos they constitute the majority of the electorates. No be only to protest, participate in pilitics and send them off. .

Government and ASUU should come to terms to do something about this strike of a thing.
It is getting too long.
Our wards and children need to go back to school ASAP.
