Dr. Joseph Ugboaja has held sway as the Chief Medical Director of this great institution for a period not upto a full blown year but the visible achievements littered all over the path of the hospital tells so much about the quality this very young administrator and Associate Professor of Obstertrics and Gynaecology is bringing to bear in the ever thriving institution located in the commerce driven Nnewi community in the area of healthcare delivery services leaves one with so much excitement.

The need to have a larger space where the hospital would be situated to enable expansion and to give the best of services to the numerous patients made the relocation to the permanent site of the hospital an absolute necessity. The Chief Medical Director and the Hospital Management team have really done so much in the place of infrastructural upgrade, a course that has been pursued with a singleness of sight and clarity of purpose and not also forgetting to mention the roles of private individuals / philanthropists like Dr. Cletus Ibeto in helping to birth this dream amongst many others.

The reality remains that we are not yet where we hope to be as an institution but the progress made so far makes it most exciting, knowing that as long as we are able to keep up with the pace seen so far in the years to come, the dream of becoming a Reference Regional Care Centre of Excellence would definitely be achieved.

Our numerous challenges notwithstanding, we remain undaunted in achieving this goal of being an exceptional tertiary health care centre that would contribute its quota to curbing Medical tourism from Nigeria.

Indeed Ochinanwata means business and the results seen so far emphasizes the fact that Kachisiemeamaka (The Way God Does Things Is Soo Beautiful).

Here are some pictures of some work that has been done and some other projects that are being initiated.

To put this in an appropriate context, this permanent site had been acquired for almost 15 years now and the minimal of developments have happened but as a result of no fault of the former CMDs. They did their best too to get the facility to work but were regularly faced with paucity of funds to execute the projects.

The current CMD in all fairness to him has pulled alot of strings to get the site to work and develop. Many clinics are moving down to the permanent site already and decongesting the temporary site while at it. The whole stretch of roads in the facility are now all tarred and alot of structures (A&E Building, Renal Building, Orthopaedic Building, Eye Care Building, Medical Ward, O&G Ward) etc are being followed up to completion too despite the challenge of resources with which to execute the project.

All I am saying remains that we haven't gotten to our destination as an institution but the zeal to get there is soo intense that every stone is being turned to make it a reality..

We know it so well that we are not yet where we desperately hope to be but with a sustained momentum, we would definitely arrive there in a matter of years.

Intentionally i have choosen not to even mention the number of new staff that have been recruited to drive this vision. When someone works hard enough to drive an institution in the right path, acknowledging same doesn't make anyone less of himself except there could be more to it than we are casually staring at.
