Obviously majority of us cannot comprehend what we read. The guy says the odour of smelly socks attracts mosquitoes not that it kills them. A chemical lethal to mosquitoes can be masked with the smell of dirty socks and be highly effective that way. Chei! my Naija people have a long way to go. |

I dont think they meant teh smelly socks kills the mosquito but it could lure them to a closed room where they could be gassed lol |

Re: Dirty Socks Could Help Fight Malaria: Researcher by sleekman(m): 12:05am On Jul 18, 2011 |
Nlanders una disappoint O! Ok let me paint dis scenario for u. Cheap option: Just gotten back 4rm work, take-off socks b4 heading 4 d bathroom. Place socks close to those electric devices that fries up insects. Cost effective if u ask me. Besides the same smell can be used to lure mosquitoes around d compound. A silly observation can be used to revolutionize d way we combat malaria. So please tone down ur naiveties pls. Though I enjoy some outrageous remarks here. |

I hope this is not encouraging us to harbor dirt in our house, after all the dirty gutters are enough to scare away the mosquitoes because they are number 1 cause of malaria in the world. Well think about this !!! |
Re: Dirty Socks Could Help Fight Malaria: Researcher by ikoha: 8:22am On Jul 18, 2011 |
a good shower before going to bed can reduce your chances of being attacked by mosquitoes because mosquitoes are mainly attracted by body odor, body temperature, sweat and smelly feet you are right, i am a witness |

Re: Dirty Socks Could Help Fight Malaria: Researcher by texazzpete(m): 8:56am On Jul 18, 2011 |
ReachRich: 2 million kids die of malaria in Africa every year. Why the heck wouldn't this make front page? I agree with maclatunji and sleekman. The comments here show how brainless many Nigerians are. Any cheap solution to fighting malaria and mosquitoes should be praised and encouraged. See people with low IQ laughing here. It's a pity. |

I would rather interpret it like this, Dirty people attract mosquitoes to themselves. @rafhell, please be careful ooo. whether you bath 20 times before you sleep guarantee you nothing except those mosquitoes are not hiding somewhere in your bedroom. precaution is better than daring Lagos mosquitoes, some even have gas-mask and carry straw. |
