Apart from the cost, is manual compaction better in anyway? Also, is 12mm iron rod okay for a bungalow house that will have parapet? Attached is the foundation picture of the house. Hope you don’t find the attachment disrespectful on your thread. Thank you Sir

No, the picture is not disrespectful. 12mm is good for a bungalow, manual compaction is good, when done at 300 mm intervals as filling goes on. I cant seem to find the pillar in this foundation, or you plan to add it later?

Foundation for this size of building is just an average of N5m. I used N4.6m for this particular house but took some loss here, I had to borrow from the next stage budget to complete the DPC.

Welcome bro, use of a nylon sheet is basically done to prevent capillary action which can cause dampness to the foot of the building walls, above the DPC level. In a site where ground water is very low and there's limited risk of dampness, we dont use nylon sheets to cover the foundation before concrete cast. It will be like a waste of funds.

Also note that I made this foundation especially high, which also serves to completely eliminate the risk of dampness on the lower walls. Thanks.

I decided to raise the foundation higher by one block, this increased the consumption of filling sand by about 10 more loads, it also took more building materials and Labour costs.
