The problem with construction in Nigeria is that politicians like to dictate everything. They want to say where a road, a bridge, a fly over, an airport or seaport will be. This is wrong. There is something called city planners, structural engineers, town planners etc. Let them do their work!

by the way, how can people say a state project is badly planned. no work of an engineer can be bad so long as he is allowed to do the work. works that fail cannot be criticised if testings are not carried out. why do people think engineering is a joke and couldnt go there. How can you say the work of an engineer is bad.. our people are really educated illiterates.. if you dont like the work say you dont kike it but as an engineer.. this work is a master piece.

Governor Ugwuanyi of Enugu state has completed the first flyover bridge in the Enugu township. But on a visit to the saud flyover leave much to be desired.

From the video coverage, one could see a badly planned and implemented flyover that doesn't even serve the very purpose for which it was built in the first instance.

this is a poor mans flyover.

they should have demolished houses on both sides of the road to allow for proper road expansion, but i guess the state govt does not have the money for that.

As for the bridge just being down the structures by the side to expand the road..that's all.

The flyover looks funny. Governor is scared to demolish houses and the place is even far from the city center. Poorly planned, from that lane I see, only a single car can pass. It's not by force to build flyover. Imp, Abia and Enugu have got it wrong with flyovers. They should take a cue from Ebonyi. Don't be under pressure to build flyover because others are building. Be strategic. Some of the flyovers Wikr built in Port Harcourt are unnecessary, and all the flyovers built in Ebonyi are unnecessary but at least they built it well. Abakiliki has no traffic like Calabar, Uyo, Asaba, Ado Ekiti and other small cities. They don't need flyovers. They are meant to ease traffic not for decoration or achievement.

I swear to God I don't really know the full name of their governor like you pointed out. Those guys are really self deluded. They others are as obsessed with them just as they are with others. If this bridge was constructed in Kaduna or kano or Lagos, you would have seen out pouring of outright bile by now. If it was Lagos they would have blamed Tinubu.

This is silly. The title of this thread is wrong. Before Ugwuanyi, Enugu had flyovers. Do you people even know what a flyover is?

Indeed it's a show of shame and ignorance. Double lane fly over landing on single lane. The fly over has a crack after the construction that they later patche. They dualization of this road is unnegotiable. And Nowas junction and Abakpa Liberty and Texaco junctions needs fly and other junctions

That's the problem. Those multi story buildings by the side are the problem of the flyover. It needs to breathe. It needs the space. It's a flyover for Pete's sake. Wike and Amaechi destroyed real estates to build flyovers, and compensated owners. Bring down those buildings or forget it, the state is not yet ready for a flyover. Why is the east so backward sef with the richest men in Nigeria?
