I think Reno believes PO will do a great job as president. And I’m sure we all know one or two persons we feel can do exceptionally well in that position. However, whether such individuals can be elected during the final elections when push comes to shove is the bigger consideration for party faithfuls like Reno, whose first loyalty is to the party winning. Reno indeed appears to be eager to push APC out and usher PDP in.

This maybe why he turned and chose Atiku, which I think makes sense from a political point of view.

It doesn’t mean that Reno doesn’t like or believe in Obi but he is perhaps trying to be real and true to the party. And maybe he’s right judging from the way APC postponed its presidential primaries to see who emerges.

Interestingly, Reno’s attack on Tinubu is the fiercest and record breaking, as other critics. In the passage of time, Reno may have come to admire Tinubu for his calmness and dexterity in the face of seemingly insurmountable resistance from various quarters. On other words, Tinubu’s silence and focus may have subconsciously made Reno to secretly wish for Tinubu presidency as a last resort, if not PDP. This may be why it looks like he has softened up on the Tinubu attacks, which started immediately after Buhari was elected president in 2015.

Given the intrigues playing out daily, if Tinubu manages to emerge, and eventually win the presidency, it would be a clear case of an “act of God”.
