2023: Onowu Nwakanma, Roots For Abia Female Governor, Says Past Govs Has Failed by Nwokomaizuchi: 5:24am On Jun 01, 2022
An Abia born technocrat and the All Progressives National Youth Network South-East Youth Leader, Onowu Martins .C. Nwakanma, has made case for the emergence of a woman as the next Governor of Abia State come 2023.

He said this has become necessary following the backwardness and underdevelopment past Governors starting from the days of Senator Orji Uzor Kalu, Senator Theodore Orji and now Governor Okezie Ikpeazu has plunged the state into, stressing that it is only a woman that can change the narratives of the State.

Onowo who stated this while interacting with newsmen in Umuahia on Tuesday, said the situation in Abia today is worrisome, as the negative news that emanate from the State on daily basis, ranging from poor infrastructure, non-payment of salaries, among others, have continued to present her in bad light.

Onowu Nwakanma who is the Immediate Past Regional Manager South-East TNN 2023, noted that the time has come, for Abians particularly woman and youth to rally round and jettison sentiments while asking themselves why the State is so backward in terms of development, pointing out that Abia has the resources to be among States to be used as example.

The technocrat who is known to have followers all over South-East, said it was regrettable that Abians have been portrayed as poor people by the present administration, frowning that after impoverishing the state, the present leadership also went on a national Television to portray Abia women as poor people, pointing out that this should force women to put resources together and support a woman as the next Governor in 2023.

Onowu Nwakanma, who was once a former co-ordinator of Abia state and who has Local Government Co-ordinators in Abia state and South-East as a whole, charged women and youth in the State not to allow anyone give them peanuts and criticise them after, expressing optimism that a woman who will take care of their problems will emerge as Governor come 2023 to change their story for good.
