Am i the only one that hated Blue band magarine with a passion? It tasted like congealed engine oil angry, and i much prefered Planta but you couldn't store that in your locker in the dormitory like Blue band.

Now that's typical Enugu architecture like the type you'd see in Uwani. smiley Has a bit of art-deco about it.

24 Mba Road Onitsha . This was the residence of Helen and Dick Henderson during nearly our entire stay in Onitsha in 1960-62. We rented the upstairs flat (where you can see Helen looking out from a railing in this image) for 12 pounds sterling per month, which at that time was just about the limit of what we felt we could afford. The flat was luxurious by typical ethnographer's standards of those days (which extolled more ascetic conditions), with electricity, running water (usually), and an indoor bathroom and toilet. The owner of the house was Ozomma Albert Erokwu, an Ozo-titled Onicha man who was a Produce Inspector for the Federal Government, living in the downstairs flat with his wife Merci and their four children. They were congenial and accommodating hosts

The gentle Tafawa Balewa. I liked the dude.

The QUINK on his table reminds me of my Dad. It was his ink of choice for his fountain pen. I remember taking one of his fountain pens and quink to school with me (Ekulu primary school) and soon found out it's not meant for clumsy 7 year olds. embarassed

Josy Ajiboye is a Nigerian graphic artist, painter and designer who has reigned as one of Nigeria's premier cartoonists for almost five decades and at a variety of publications, ranging from The African Challenge to The Morning Post, and including a long tenure as Art Editor at the Daily Times group of periodicals. Ajiboye churned out a steady stream of cartoons focusing on politics and social trends, all characterized by the incisive wit of his observation and the rough-hewn realism of his drawings. 1971.

Beautiful pictures - the country was more developed then, compared to these days
These sets of pictures are trully amazing, look out the roads and street are neat, no agberos, or area boys molesting people.
We should show these pictures to our politicians, maybe it will help them to understand the need for massive development in the country.

Where did we actually lost the drive to move the country forward?

@ poster, thanks so much for the pictures, keep them coming

We lost it when Buhari & IBB opened their minds in sequence to the lust and lucre of power. That was also when the brain drain started.
