Starkly different from two generations down, this generation of fathers seem more bonded with their kids. And much more loved too. And the reasons seem simple enough --- they seem much more fun and funky!

While especially the last two generations of fathers had a more strict and military style approach in dealing and relating with their kids, today's fathers seem to approach child bonding on a completely different angle.

While some mothers seem to nag and scold their kids a lot due to added stress from work/career, some of today's fathers are seen by their kids as a buffer zone, a safe and cool spot to escape mom's constant rebukes.

With the evolution of smartphone and virtual gaming and physical sports which are traditionally men's turf, kids are discovering how fun and cool daddy can be when he introduces them to some hands-on gaming experience and some other physical exploration children are known to enjoy.

Who knows, we might as well count it as a positive from the gender equality campaign, since most mothers these days would rather mix career and child raising, giving fathers of today more time to bond with their children. And with that, it can be said that the age-long antics of mothers using their children as weapon against the father in marital dispute is gradually declining -- sadly though not for lack of intent but for lack of opportunity.

This is so true.

My daughter told me in the car when i was taking them to daycare.

" Daddy always happy always laughing , but mummy always angry always shouting"

I reported thier mother to herself. Hoping she will make adjustments.

It is partly a byproduct of leadership emergence pattern.
50 years ago, You have soldiers overthrow a govt and fathers start acting like dictators. Democracy comes where leaders have to drink cheap bottled water in front of cameras to win voters over and people start seeing the sense in love inspired trust and loyalty.

Despite the tongue-in-cheek last paragraph, your thread highlights what has been said over time:

If men want to enjoy their families in old age, they need to build the bond while young.

There's has never been a good enough excuse for fathers not bonding with their children.
Can your wife stop you from bonding with your children if you want to?
If your child prefers your wife over you, it is mostly your fault.
It is not that easy to poison the mind of a child who loves you.

Men need to take responsibility for the consequences of not being available to their children, instead of always blaming it on their wives.
Of course, children will prefer that parent who's mostly there when they need him/her the most.
So, it is more of men of this generation learning from what their fathers didn't do and stepping up.

It is a welcomed development. Men are learning that it's not about being commando to their children. Bonding is not for mums alone.

Gone are the days when the mum was Jesus Christ that you had to go through to get to God (daddy). Now you can go to daddy directly

It is good to observe some new generation fathers becoming more emotionally involved in their children' lives.
